Okay, I pixelated this poor grand piano to death. But even so, it's gorgeous.
Check out those pins in the pin block. Those babies are about 2 inches long, and are really heavy. The reason I bring it up is because every time I see the the pin block of the piano, I think about the time that my dad was in charge of the men's dorm back in college. They had an old upright piano in the fourth story, and after years of relentless pounding from college boys, the piano was dead. They tried to remove it, but in the years since it had been taken up to the fourth story, the stairwells had been narrowed and they couldn't get the piano down.
My dad always had a flair for the dramatic (he was a fantastic preacher) and he decided to make a college event out of removing that poor dead piano.
On the following Saturday, all the students gathered beneath the men's dorm, four stories below on the ground. The door at the end of the hallway of the fourth floor was opened up. Down the hall came four strapping college boys, rolling that baby towards oblivion. When they stopped on the edge of the fire escape, the piano made its maiden voyage out into the wild blue yonder.
My dad said that when the piano hit the concrete, the sound was unlike anything he'd ever heard. I'm sure.
What he didn't know was that each one of the strings had approximately 120 pounds of tension on them. At the end of each one of those strings was a 2" turning pin, almost as heavy as a 50 caliber World War II bullet. Dad said that they found very few of those tuning pins. Nobody died, at least that we know of...

I think we have some tailgaters here. This is probably mama or papa goose taking this years hatchlings to the fields nearby that still have grain left from harvest. There was one goose bringing up the rear that didn’t make the crop. Probably the other parent. No failure to launch here.

Son muy adaptables y viven en los bordes de los bosques húmedos, secos o de galerÃa, en barrancos con árboles, bosques secundarios viejos, plantaciones de café, banano, áreas semiabiertas, setos o jardines.
Distribución
Es una especie residente a lo largo de las bajuras y elevaciones intermedias de la vertiente del PacÃfico; asciende hasta los 1500 m. en la parte norte y hasta los 2150 m. en el sur. Es común excepto por la parte seca del noroeste donde es local, y se restringe al bosque de galerÃa. Es común en el lado del Caribe, desde el área de Cartago hasta los alrededores de Turrialba, y de poco común a rara en elevaciones medias y bajas en la ladera norte de la Cordillera Volcánica Central. Se encuentra ausente en la mayor parte de la bajura del Caribe, aunque es relativamente común en las áreas más secas al sur del Lago de Nicaragua.

Mide 39 cm. y pesa 120 grs. Es grande, con la coronilla y la máscara bordeadas de azul. El pico es fuerte y aserrado, ligeramente curvado hacia abajo.
En los adultos el centro de la coronilla y la máscara ancha que termina en punta en los auriculares son de color negro. La coronilla presenta un borde azul ancho, más claro y verdoso en la frente y más violáceo detrás del ojo. La máscara y la mancha pequeña negra en el pecho presentan un borde angosto y azul. La garganta es verde azulado y la remeras y las timoneras son azul verdosas. El pecho y la parte superior del abdomen varÃan entre verde con un leve tinte oliváceo y oliva ocráceo. La parte baja del abdómen y las coberteras infracaudales son más verde azulado. El iris es rojo y el pico negro, y las patas negruzcas
Los especÃmenes juveniles son parecidos a los adultos, pero con toda la coronilla teñida de azul verdoso y con los lÃmites no muy bien definidos. La máscara negra es más pequeña y fusca. No presentan mancha en el pecho ni raquetas en la cola. El iris es café oscuro.

Surely not!? Dance lessons are being given to stallions during their off season to keep them from Grass Potato Syndrome (GPS). Stallionhandlers will be asked to gently introduce thier partners to the Cha Cha Cha , their response is likely to be Ha ha ha . We look forward to Tango lessons in late October, when the Stallionmen Union response is likely to be a 100% fruitier and significantly fizzier!
We have a small sports club in our village that offers inexpensive gymnastic lessons for children. Every child can join. I volunteer at the gymnastic lessons and the competitions. It is really great to see the children having fun.

I decided to do a layout about the mistakes I made in my first marriage and how much happier my second marriage is now. In the process I made a mistake on the layout that I had to fix too. I cut the light blue floral patterned paper way too small and then had to figure out how to use it since I didn't have another piece. I actually love the result even more than the original layout that I had planned.
Journaling: "Divorce is not something that I would wish on anybody, but I wouldnn't be the person I am today without it. Lots of classes, counseling and groups to help me figure out my issues & what I needed to do to heal them, to finally grow up. I don't look at conflict or communication the same way I used to (thank goodness). Honestly, revealing my real self, standing up for what I want & believe. It's so revealing to be known especially by the person you are married to. These are the important lessons that i learned because of a divorce. And now I am so very blessed to have found a person who's done the hard, healing work too. Dave and I don't always agree, but we're two different people and that 's okay. I've learned that we're we're okay & I'm so glad that he's my partner now".

Starting with a newspaper page.
I had saved a beautiful newpaper photo of an African mother and baby. I copied it just in time, it's deteriorating already. Then it was election day, and my thoughts became political. Then where was the "This day in history" note with Susan B Anthony's birthday.
I'm sitting quiet and alone and watch this kid quickly approaching me on his bike .... I think too much ... and I lived in NYC too long and walked too many hard streets over those years ... I just started assuming the worst ... that I was about to lose my camera .... well ... Kevin just needed to borrow my phone .... and after that ... I just needed to borrow his face ..... Moral ..... stop thinking .... just live .........
This is the first summer that all 3 kids have had a chance to take swimming lessons. Last year we missed it all together and the year before (when the twins were 2) we could only take them one at a time since someone had to stay with the 3rd kiddo. Claire missed out on lessons that year as July was unseasonably cold. This year they are doing pretty well. Claire is still afraid at moments (only 3 lessons under our belt so far). But she is excited and happy to go each night.
The challenge of this Reading Lesson (Part 1of 18 lessons) was probably more difficult for the writer, than the children who had to read it. The writer had to tell a story using words of only 1 syllable - just think of sustaining something worse than the most fiendishly difficult Haiku over 18 sheets. Overall, a success, with the minor quibble that "tea-pot" is a bit of a cheat.
Others of these educational series were penned by John Synge (grandfather of the dramatist J.M. Synge) at his Glanmore Estate in Co. Wicklow in the 1830s, although whether Synge was the author of Reading Lessons of One Syllable is not certain.

I'm in way over my head, but it feels right. I dont know a damn thing about cameras, esp one of this caliber. At a truckstop after work tonight I was beyond frustrated on finding a shot, as i walked thru the parking lot a young boy waiting in parents car said he wanted to take my picture (he had tablet camera). A child was my teacher today, and I was humbled from his wisdom...
