0mg, tomorrow will be the final week of my two years National Service. So bittersweet!
I know this piece is mediocre at best, truly hard to live up to yesterday's upload.

Lesson ONE
Don't try too hard, brush your hair, dab a spot of perfume here and there!
Then fall asleep and dream of the girl you are :-)
I drew this sitting in the car, and colored it there as well. Completely forgot that I was supposed to take a picture of it before I added paint. But it is early in the week, so will try to do another door before next Tuesday. I really, really really enjoyed this, as I used my finger as my measuring instrument and think I got the dimensions correct. And I used my new (in the mail today!) Rosemary pocket brush and found it delightful, so I went into watercolor heaven for a while. I did two drawings of the same door and inked the smaller one after an attempt at paint without the lines, since the watercolor pencil disappeared. The second one I did no lines until after I painted. I am very inclined to break the rules...sorry.
SOHN - Lessons
Of lessons learned, of lessons learned
Of bridges burned, of bridges burned
This time I'll do things differently
This time I'd like to need you less
I'm struggling, I'm struggling
I've given in, I've given in
This time I'll keep an overview
This time I'll keep away from you

Happy New Year guys! I wish all the best. May this one be the best one ever, and not a crash like 87 years ago.
Do not hesitate to take a look at my Facebook page.
Was on a walk this afternoon and i spotted this guy swinging around about 15ft up.
I think it might have been getting an early flying lesson.
For Project Soul Pancake: Admire An Old Building
While living in the Rocky Mountains is great for it's nature, it's quite lacking in any real ancient buildings to explore. While I wish I had some abandonded hospitals or schools or skyscrapers to wander through, I'm afraid that most of our buildings are still very much in use. Since this area really didn't start to develop until the gold rushes in the late 1800's most of our "old buildings" are from that time period, including the one in the photo above.
Built in the early 1900's this building was originally a residential school comissioned by the Canadian Government and run by the Catholic Church to "educate and house" first nations children. Essentially the government, along with the church wanted to assimilate first nations people into "european life" in the new world and this was their way of doing it and it wasn't optional, it was mandatory. For such a beautiful building it holds what I'm sure is a dark history, I tried to find some stories about or some elders to tell me about it but I haven't heard back yet. I feel that this is such a tragic part of Canadian history that often gets overlooked, it makes me sad to think that at the time this was how our government acted. The building stopped being used as a school in 1970's and is now a part of a hotel and resort complex, an attempt at reclaiming the building for more positive uses I suppose. I've only ever been inside this building once and it held in it some very strong vibes and emotions, as it would after being used in such a way.
It seams I am more passable than I think.
While out shopping in my local town I past the florist who happens to sell a lot of vintage style dress (Yes Janet you know the florist) and in the window was flyer for a tea dance to be held locally. I continued shopping and got my bits I went out for and decided as I liked the idea of a tea dance on the way back to pop into the florist and a ask a question.
Now me being the caring sort of person and worry about people's sensibilities I thought it would be prudent to ask if I would be welcome at such an event my being trans and all.
Well the lady was a bit taken aback saying "of course you would be welcome why ever not?" On explaining a second time she said "Had you not told me dear I would never have known"
Well that shocked me and yeah OK she could have just been saying that bit I feel she was being truthful.
So one happy girl walked out clutching a flyer Hell bent on attending the event.
The lesson learnt is I have to stop telling people I am trans it doesn't matter.
ALWAYS CHECK YOUR ISO SETTINGS! I had the opportunity to sit down by the water for a bit today, and came back with quite a few shots. Once I opened them in Lightroom, I realized that I had left my ISO settings to 800... resulting in way more grain than I needed.
Luminar2018 helped, but I could have done better.
Sheesh.

As artists our view through the lens is an invaluable tool..an extension of ourselves ... always ready to capture inspiration where ever it may be..
Today was 'self teach' day for me, iPad and paper in hand we worked on using MANUAL ONLY with available lighting !!
I LOVE MANUAL !!
and having more control of the end result... especially if it doesn't fit into the "artistic vision" of what the image was in your head... not to mention less time in post-production!!
A win-win no matter how you look at it!
Thank you ALL of my Flickr friends for your visits and your incredible streams that continue to delight , inspire and carry me away each time I visit...Explored # 433 thanks you one and all!!
I recently discovered that it's tough to hold still for 8 seconds or more.
Even when you want to and haven't been drinking at all. Hmph. Go figure. : )
Took this for the Take a class with Dave & Dave Group.
The second task this week is to use sidelight.
This Moorhen was swimming around in one of the ponds with two young chicks. Probably teaching some well needed lessons at this early stage of life.
I remember coming across this scene and couldn't wait to share it as it was an unusual sight for me and I thought it was so cool and here I am just getting to it 10 months later. Daah!

In this one I really didn't want the graphite to transfer or smudge in the finished product.Since I'm like broke and didn't want to use up my expensive workable fixative I used watercolor to seal the graphite. I remember seeing the idea on a artist hack video on YouTube. I played around with the photo settings to really make the watercolor pop.
