The wild pear trees (and tame ones) busted out with white blooms in Alabama last week as we experienced a wave of summer weather in February. The blooms became more and more beautiful as I zoomed in until I captured the center of an unfurling dance. The stamen (purple anthers, the bending white filaments) surrounding the golden stigma and style of the pistil. All about an 1/8". (And yes, I had to look up the anatomy of a flower to figure that all out.)
Tiny cast silicone rubber dog figure for the Macro Mondays group. Topic: Less than an inch. Happy Macro Monday!
It is just a weed from my yard. I did a little research and found out that is is Lamium amplexicaule, commonly known as henbit dead-nettle,common henbit, or greater henbit. It is edible so if I get really hungry I have something to nibble on. For this shot I used Neewer extension tubes. This one used all three tubes for a total of 68 mm on my 50mm lens. I also used my ring light.
The crocus have been blooming for nearly a week already. It finally stopped raining and with two days of sun it was dry enough to get to them today.
Getting ready for Macro Mondays “Less Than An Inch"
Slightly wider than 1/2 inch. Each mark is 1/16th of an inch and each larger one on the sides of the scale mark 1/4 inch.
Probably greater than 2:1 magnification.
This week was definitely a challenge. The vine with these tiny pink flowers is fairly common near home.
Mucking around with some possibles for next Monday's Macro Monday Challenge - Less Than An Inch.
This is a clear plastic rule shot through two polarizing filters, one on lens and one below the rule, but above the light source ( a Dolphin lantern).
The less than an inch challenge last week for Macro Mondays prompted looking closer than normal when wandering outside. One find was this clematis vine with just a touch of snow still clinging to it.
The accumulating condensation in the airlock of my fermenting home made wine...
Just a few more possibles I shot for this week's MACRO MONDAYS "Less Than An Inch"...

The lemon eclips. Thanks for viewing, faving and commenting!
What a fun challenge. Trying to do something different with some severe restrictions. Well, when I found this little plastic clown fish at a store near me I knew that I had to make him the focus of the shot. The background is a glittery gel that I keep in a jar and it's a little difficult to wrangle because it's always shifting to a more "relaxed" state. As I was taking the shot, the fish would begin drooping and I would reposition the camera or the fish. HMM.
Since we've been married it's been tradition to get my wife daisies for Valentine's Day. This year was no exception.
They're starting to look kind of tough, but still good enough to get their picture taken.
For Macro Monday - Less than an Inch (It really is, I measured.)
Have a good week.
