dimanche, le 4 février 2007: Arles-Méjanes Circuit en Camargue (France)
Between Arles and the Mediterranean Sea is a regional park called The Camargue (see map). It is the largest river delta in Western Europe, home to hundreds of species of birds, little white horses (I love imapix's photo and description of Camargue horses), bulls, and enormous mosquitos. I took a bike ride toward the Etang de Vaccarès - the huge reedy salt marsh in the center of The Camargue - with a group of friends from Arles.

I tried to add more textures and brushes to make it a little less simple but nothing really looked right so this is as good as this wallpaper got :l
Old South Cemetery, established in 1835, is less than a block from where I live in Frankfort, Indiana. Most interred there passed away in the mid-to-late 1800’s. The cemetery borders the wooded corridor of Prairie Creek that meanders south-to-north through Frankfort to its confluence with the South Fork of the Wildcat Creek about a mile north of town. The Prairie Creek corridor is an amazing wildlife habitat to which many Frankfort residents remain totally oblivious.
Many of the grave markers in Old South Cemetery are so old and weathered that their markings are barely discernible. One still surprisingly legible is that of Harmon Aughe who was born in Pennsylvania in 1759. Harmon Aughe served in the Revolutionary War, reached the rank of Captain, was at the Battle of Brandywine, and served in a wagon brigade stationed at Valley Forge where he spent that brutal winter hauling forage. After being discharged in 1777, he moved to Warren County, Ohio and eventually to Clinton County, Indiana where he lived till his death on May, 19, 1846. The Frankfort chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is named in honor of Captain Harmon Aughe.

“LESS HOPE” is created after the 2008 Shepard Fairey “Obey” images, and street art, for the Barack Hussein Obama US Presidential Election. It aims to generate an ironic, critical, and slightly ambiguous reading on political participation, and social transformations. Part of a push to enable a call to question the conformity with the existing political apparatus, and a much needed critique of the official progressive left and its cultural projection.
