At my last dinner party, my brother gifted me this gorgeous, Meyer lemon, fresh from his greenhouse! Meyer lemons are not as acidic, slightly sweeter, thinner skinned & much juicier than regular lemons.

I now know from experience that using a lemon zester is much easier than trying to zest a lemon with just a sharp knife.

I only wish I could photograph the scent, as well.

Snapped while picking up some take-away pho (Vietnamese noodles) late Saturday night. A vibrant red-orange wall + wooden bowls of citrus = a photo opportunity I couldn't pass up.

It's a complete non-sequitur for such a cheery photo, but nonetheless I'm listening to the melancholiest of R.E.M. songs, Find the River

#25 Sour

(Corymbia citriodora). The essential oil of the lemon-scented gum mainly consists of citronellal (80%). Unrefined oil from the lemon eucalyptus tree is used in perfumery, and a refined form of this oil is used in insect repellents, especially against mosquitoes. (Source: Wikipedia)

Cake.... (a long story - shortened)

I had an OLD orange cake mix, which I baked in early Dec. It was so nasty, it tasted like baby aspirins..... gag, gag, gag.... The store didn't have any orange mixes, so we had a lemon cake instead.

Every Australian backyard deserves a lemon tree and these specimens are great ones, groaning under the weight of healthy fruit.

A lemon cut in half, sides to match, equal, proportional and parallel. AND smells wonderful!!
