Legends of the Apollo Space Program were on hand Friday night for a two hour presentation at Theater In The Woods at the EAA Airventure in Oshkosh. Speaking on the right is Gene Kranz, flight director during the Gemini and Apollo programs. Gene is probably best known for being in charge of bringing the Apollo 13 crew home after their aborted moon mission. To the left of Kranz is Walt Cunningham, who was on Apollo Seven. Next is Jim Lovell who was on Apollo Eight with Frank Borman (to his left in yellow) as well as Apollo 13 with Fred Haise on the far left. Out of sight to the left are Buzz Aldrin (Gemini 12 and Apollo 11), Joe Engle (backup for Apollo 14 and 17), and Al Worden (Apollo 15). All of these guys were still very sharp and recalled things like it was yesterday.
Legends of Brickdom is a medieval/early gun age (Some cannons and flintlock weaponry) based rpg. The group has recently died out so we have created a forum and some changes to the story line and dropped a few nations (Details are still being worked out) So it may be a while until something happens.

I suggest you sign up on both so you can keep up with whats happening, anyway if you like rpgs like LoR (previously known as LCC) I highly suggest you give it a try.

The weather was great and there were goals galore. I lost count after about 7 but the result didn't matter as the Ger Hayden Cup is in honour of Ger who is:

Five days before Christmas 2007, and a gift of a lifetime.
A legend, and local, Mert Lawwill. He is one of the men who brought us the classic motorcycle movie, "On Any Sunday". Along with Mert, Malcom Smith, Bruce Brown, David Evans, and Steve McQueen, a movement in motorcycling was made in 1971.
Mert has always been a hero of mine since I was old enough to hold on to handlebars.
It was an honor to go to his home, coincidentally very close to my home. I joined my brother to visit Mert so that he could sign a few DVD's of 'On Any Sunday' for a charity track day raffle taking place a few days later.
What I thought was going to be 15 minutes of 'here ya go', turned out to be the best Christmas gift of all... 2 solid hours of hanging out with Mert in his home garage where he now builds his own motorcycles.
Little known fact, that it was Mert and a few other locals that invented what we all know today as 'the mountain bike'. Mert also developed one of the first rear suspension bicycles.
Not only is he a man who raced Daytona when helmets only covered the top of you head, and the master of slide on a flat track, but he's a genius when it comes to motorcycles mechanics.
Currently, along with building only 20 of his custom motorcycles, and designing custom suspensions, he designed a prosthetic attachment for arm amputees so they can ride. It's ground breaking, and changing the world for people who have lost arms, and wish to ride anything with handlebars again. True genius.
About 20min before we left Mert's, we were talking about his bicycles that he builds, and there was this wonderful moment when Mert stopped to think. He was very comfortable with me shooting at this point, and didn't even try and blast me his full faced trademarked smile when I grabbed this one. While the other image of him that I have captures his youthful soul, this is straight up soul.

For the day that's in it......glad I got to see him play in his last season albeit only for 15 minutes or so in the Bernabeau last November.
