Lefty Gomez (1908-1989) was a pitcher for the New York Yankees for twelve seasons, 1930-1942. He pitched in five World Series without losing a single post-season game. Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame unanimously in 1972. The photo was taken at the Yankees 1939 Spring Training session in St. Petersburg, FL.
It turns out that I am the only righty in the family (also, the only non-twin, non-preemie). Both Mason and Avery have shown a clear favoring for the left side since early on. It's hard to say if it's completely neurological or if they would have been natural lefties. All I can say is that I'm thrilled to see our boy who was born with a grade IV brain hemorrhage (not to mention, severe pulmonary hemorrhage) able to launch a baseball relatively well, no matter which hand he's using!

Me and Che Ernesto "Che" Guevara! Okay, yes, it's an impersonator - a busker on Las Ramblas in Barcelona, Spain 2004.
This was my second visit to Barcelona. It's oh so easy to get to from Germany. It's one of my favorite cities on Earth. I don't have a travelogue to go with these photos - this was a business trip, believe it or not, for a conference, and Stefan got to join me for a couple of nights while I was there.
Part of my "Waking Dreams" series of comic strips. These are ideas and punch-lines that appear to me while asleep or in idle thought. Usually everything appears in my head instantaneously (but ends up taking days to draw!)

Venuto da molto lontano
a convertire bestie e gente
come tutti cambiando colore
