Custom left-handed guitar created by Michigan luthier Tom Murray.

As Tom, my brother Rich, and I hatched the idea, this instrument became a combination of our favorites: the beginnings and general pickup configuration of a Telecaster, with a swept-out cutaway and upper bout inspired by Jazzmasters and Firebirds, with a heavier body and upper-mount switch from the Les Paul school of thought. The pickups are both Seymour Duncan single-coil-size humbuckers. This guitar saw much stage time in the late 90's and served as the main live room guitar for many tracks on the pure suspension "give in" album.

my wife very kindly took the boys out for the day and i painted like my life depended on it (well it does!)

yesterday, my brother in law gave me a pile of old slates, so alongside canvas and wood i had a go with these. it's a lovely surface to paint on.

is it going to be afree art friday piece? i'm not sure. i'm kinda fond of them so will probably keep hold of them for the moment.

please take a ref moments to look at then as a whole slate. probably better viewed large to.

This short play by Clarence Coo about left handed people is really a clever reference to gays and lesbians in high school.

I bet the tooth fairy was chuffed to get such a cool little note

This are the thoughts of "some" of our fellow italian citizen during the 2006 political campaign.

Just to report, feel free to comment, of course!

Maybe this is the reason why their was the less lasting governemnt in italian history ;)

It's been 2 years since I last wrote the fourier transform... my left hand (and brain) are trying to get used to them all over again.

Established in 1980, Southpaw Guitars is the world's largest left-handed music shop. My brother is a left and it was a life-long dream to visit this shop. I admit it was a fascinating experience to see all these pieces of art.

Timo for President! He's lefthanded and born on August 4, just like Obama.

Esther and I made tons of scrappy buttons for the campaign (Ken made a few too).

Then we were off on a wild-timo ride from North to South Portland with a few twists and turns (Lloyd Mall tunnel anyone?). This was one the best night time rides I've ever been on since I rode so many places I never have been. We finished at the Nightlight on Clinton (another left-hander) with some home-baked cake by Esther.

The water's getting higher.

Neptunea contraria from the Red Crag Formation (Pliocene Epoch c. 2-5.3Ma). Length 55mm.

Neptunea contraria - the 'left handed' gastropod, a common fossil from the Red Crag Formation, but otherwise very rare. All other snail shells, whether ancient or modern, spiral clockwise from the top as they grow. The opening would be on the right as you look at it. Here it is on the left. The rusty colour is iron staining.

People setup desks and work areas to suit purpose and comfort. Electronics, tools, and other equipment are often designed for the right hand while others more universal.

i was scribbling this on a 3x5 card yesterday. i've noticed that when i don't pay attention (or when the paper's unruled) i tend to write on a downward slope. someone once told me it has a psychological meaning when one does that, but i've also been told that interpretation gets thrown off by people like me, who write lefthanded and with poor wrist posture. so who knows...

kind of goes along with essential you.

This is a little video of my "knitting choreography" - a much rehearsed dance of the hands.

(I am going slowly at first to try and show my oddball "Lefty Combined" style.)

I move stitches from the right hand needle to the left.

The leading leg of my stitches are behind the needle.

I hold my yarn in my right hand and catch it from underneath with my needle to pull it through the stitch.

ETA: I finally came across some out there who knits like I do! TwistedPurl's video is a lot clearer. I "pick" more than "wrap" when making a knit stitch, but I am so excited to learn that I am not alone in the world! Woo hoo!

Also... about all the clanking... it is the needles I have holding stitches for the sleeves of this sweater banging on the tripod legs. :)
