The one on top is a Sminthurinus reticulatus, the same springtail as in the previous picture, the other one is a very dark Sminthurinus elegans.

This simple light box set up is about as high tech as I get. Right now it's on the dining room table, because I needed to be downstairs the other day. It folds up like an art folder, to include pockets for the lights and table top tripod.....comes as a set. I've also posted the finished shot from this set up.

Some find it prehistoric monsters but for me, they have a big hug effect.

Recently I bought a used Godox SL-150W LED light for a good price at auction. I thought it would be interesting to compare lighting a tabeltop/still life with a COB LED light to using flash. This is one of my first attempts. The shot was taken with the Godox light to the right and a small LED panel light to the left for fill. Both lights were on about 25% power and the Godox had a snoot + diffuser attached. The photo was taken on a Nikon D750 using the Nikon AIS f/2.8 55mm macro lens.
You can mount a PopSpot Focusable Fresnel LED Light just about anywhere! The light has a built in Arca-Swiss mount on the bottom so you can mount it on an arca-swiss tripod head and Joby Gorillapod like we did here. Check out our Fotodiox YouTube or Facebook pages to learn more.
