One single exposure, no editing, only moving lights in the darkness.
Worked with Led Lenser X21R.2, M1, M5 and M7RX.
The first time i've left the house in over 7 months to do some actual night photography.
I was very rusty, and it was really cold, but a great night for star trails anyway. I only got two shots before calling it as my feet were freezing and I had a long drive home. It was so cold I even sat in the van while keeping an eye on my camera rom a distance. This shot was longer but got ruined by a truck going past and setting off the security light on the side of the church.
I am very limited on angles at this place due to the placement and proximity of security lights, so this is about as close as I can get before the lights go off, and about as far left as I can get before the drop off the edge in to the road.
I'm sort of pleased with the results, it will do for a warm up for when the weather gets nicer.

Well last night i was out light painting again with Chris Thompson, this time in a tunnel 5 minutes walk from my house. It took quite a few practice shots before i got this one which I'm totally happy with, thanks for your patience Chris. Above the tunnel is mostly lit by light pollution from the many orange street lights nearby and a little bit of white light from a torch, the first part of the tunnel i then lit using my LED Lenser X21R.2 with a red filter, then i stood halfway down the tunnel and got Chris to back light me from the end of the of the tunnel with the X21R.2 to cast my shadow and to bring out the corrugation inside the tunnel

I decided to face the extremely difficult task of capturing the Milky Way with the illuminated foreground in one exposure. Unfortunately, this place is quite heavily polluted with light from the south and southwest, but what the heck, you have to fight and not give up.
With an astrotracker (and ISO 200 and an exposure time of 240 s or more, even up to 480 s) I would definitely get excellent quality, but it was supposed to be a short test trip - to check if such an approach makes any sense - to avoid assembling several planes (exposures) into a mosaic.
Earlier, from the balcony at home, I checked that the weather was good, so I quickly convinced my wife to go - we don't have far, about 1.5 km in a straight line.
Yesterday evening in less than 20 minutes I took about 20 photos, and this is the first of them.
Self-timer 5s, CWB 2900 K.
Laowa 17mm f/1.8 (35mm FF) manual lens, manual focus, 14x magnification and focus on the smallest distinct circle of bright stars, without blurring them - then the focus is perfectly set on point.
Benro Mach3 TMA 47AXL tripod + Manfrotto MHXPRO-3W head. To illuminate the trees I used a single short flash (about 2 seconds) from the Ledlenser P7 flashlight with a CTO filter (3000 K).

Der Teutoburger Wald hat in den letzten Jahren sehr gelitten. Vor 2 Jahren hebe ich hier noch die Aufnahmen für „Save! …the forrest“ erstellt. Nun ist alles weg! Es wird nicht mehr lange dauern, bis der Teutoburger Wald nur noch Teuto heisst, weil der Wald einfach weg ist. :-(

This is pretty simular to the previous upload. However if you look close you will see that this is the other hand and a different nailpolish. And some purple glitter was added to match the nailpolish.
For lightening I used a ledlenser from below. Pretty overkill but it made the job:p

Kurt Cobain has always been a hero of mine, a great guitarest, not the best role model but still a hero of the 90's loved by millions, and like most artists became bigger than ever after they died.
This is a 20inch model I have of Kurt Cobain, 10 years after he died they found a few hundred of these in a warehouse that they never knew existed, then sold them off, I was lucky enough to get one along with my other Nirvana merchandise.
Photoshopped the Nirvana 20th in and Kurt Cobain autograph. It's nice to pay homage to our heros, and I have done so.

A quick collaboration with Phill Fisher this evening on his grand pilgrimage of the Cistercian Abbeys in the north of England. Despite living only 10 miles away from Roche Abbey, I can't believe I never bothered to light paint this place!
Another shot of the shoe, over powered the Yellow slightly but still useable. Left it a little longer for a star trail.

The new illumination of the bridge , now in red light .. it offers new challenges to us nightphotographers to present it in the new lightsetting on the very best way possible .. i will try some more times :D
Not my best ever work but everything was stacked against me. I had emptied my car for a business trip of all the usual LP gear and had to make do with a gelled torch and a green fluorescent tube. And sod's law it started raining shortly after I shot this! I will not be back anytime soon to reshoot as it is 325 miles away!

Said good bye to another old friend the other week, my old college, I went here for 5 years and it became abandoned last year, I wanted to explore and photograph it since it became abandoned.
Me and Phil made it our mission to do it, so one night we did some "Entering" and got some amazing pictures, we wanted to go back and do more on the roof and such but it came down in 2 days so we just missed it.
I can safely say we were still the only 2 people to have got to it once abandoned.
