Empowering Educators Through Recycling Training for Sustainable Education

From November 22 to 25, 2024, a transformative Basic Recycling Training took place in Salamieh, Hama, involving 39 participants from across Syria. These included representatives from Salamieh (9), Tartous (8), Lattakia (3), Hama/Musyaf (2), Damascus (6), and Aleppo (11). This initiative, part of the Syria-Education (SY-EDU) project funded and implemented by the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), aimed to equip Early Childhood Development (ECD) and education (EDU) teachers with skills to enhance environmental sustainability and revolutionize the educational process.

The training emphasized environmental sustainability by teaching participants how to reuse consumables and transform them into useful tools. It raised awareness about the importance of recycling and environmental preservation and encouraged teachers to think creatively with limited resources. Participants were trained to produce low-cost educational tools using recycled materials, enabling them to design resources tailored to individual differences among students. The initiative also sought to strengthen the connection between students and their learning experiences by incorporating educational tools made by either the teachers or the students themselves.

This activity is part of SY-EDU’s mission to transform lives through holistic education and Early Childhood Development. The program includes Education Hubs and Community-Based Childhood Centers for children aged 3 to 18, as well as Family Centers for children aged 6 months to 3 years, focusing on cognitive, emotional, and physical development. Through this recycling initiative, the project not only promotes sustainable practices but also fosters innovation and engagement, ensuring a lasting impact on educators, students, and communities alike.

The term dyslexia was first described in 1896 in Greek, meaning "difficulty with words." Initially, it was called “reading blindness.”

A century or so has passed since then. Still, even today, we have struggled to define what dyslexia is, let alone the reason behind it.

For over 100 or so years, there have been numerous theories claiming it to be a hearing disorder, a visual disorder, and as most researchers now agree, both. www.riffitnow.com/blog/dyslexia-is-not-as-rare-as-you-may...

AI Tutoring Systems are changing education by making learning personal. They look at how each student is doing, what they're good at, and where they need help. Then, they change the lessons, give specific practice, and provide feedback right away. Students get a learning plan that fits them, which helps them learn better and stay interested.
