05/15/2010:
My son and I were at the campground all day yesterday with our cub scout pack, and by the time we got home, got showered and unpacked, I was too tired to go through pictures.
This was only the 2nd photo I took that day, but one of my favorites since it perfectly captured how the rest of day went. I remember when I used to have that much energy, the kind that lasted all day long without the need for caffeine or energy drinks.

This young girl was getting riding lessons from her mother. I'm thinking the seat was too low and perhaps a riding lesson when you might fall shouldn't be done in a dress! Her mother was very patient and the girl was a good sport!
We co-hosted an illuminating ‘Organic Learning Day’ day with Yeo Valley at Holt Farm in Somerset (spring 2014), designed to provide an enjoyable introduction to the principles of Organic.
Experts from the Soil Association and Yeo Valley shared up-to-date knowledge on what sets organic products apart, while an afternoon tour of the 500 hectare farm tour provided a valuable insight into organic farming in practice, as well as an opportunity to see the cows being milked!
Yeo Valley served up a delicious organic lunch, overlooking the stunning landscape, and afternoon tea and cake in their beautiful organic gardens.

(Countdown #6)
This cub, captured out in Naknek Lake, was learning to catch salmon with it's mom. The mom would put her head in the water searching for the last of the salmon. When it would find one, it would stop and begin to strip it of it's flesh, then drop it and move on to the next one. This cub would stay at it's mom's side while she was doing this and occasionally she would take only a bite or two and then pass it on to her cub.
I love this shot because in this one the salmon given to the cub appears to be quite large for it. We watched as the cub tried to maneuver it with it's paws. It did manage to devour some of the salmon.
What a handful!
I'm learning to fly but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
Well, the good ol' days may not return
And the rocks might melt and the sea may burn
I'm learning to fly but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
(Lyrics from Tom Petty 'Learning to fly')
Roadtested several times this last week and various adjustments made in readiness for MOT test (very soon I hope)
University Librarian John Ulmschneider talks with students during the reception after the ribbon cutting.
On Friday, November 29, 2013, UFV students had the opportunity to participate in Service Learning. The event included a talk by Darryl Plecas, MLA for Abbotsford South, guided discussions, and hands-on volunteering at the local Food Bank. Service learning integrates community service in the academic stream to enrich students' learning, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities.
I think she was too young for school (in China, school starts at age 6) so she was getting a head start on reading on her own practising from pages ripped out of a book she probably found in the garbage.

Loyola University New Orleans is now partnering with the center through its service learning program, placing college students there to help mentor, tutor and sometimes just listen to the kids. The students help with homework, coach youth basketball teams, lead music and arts activities, and give computer tutoring to children who might otherwise be exposed to unsafe or unhealthy alternatives.
