Tube strike caused complete chaos in London, people literaly fighting to get on overcrowded buses. On 6 March 2018, the UN CC:Learn global partners met in Geneva, Switzerland for the 8th UN CC:Learn Steering Group Meeting. Partners from FAO, ILO, IOM, UN Environment, UNECA, UNESCO, UNFCCC, UNITAR, UNSSC, UNU, WFP, WTO participated to discuss the arrangements for the 2017-2020 phase of UN CC:Learn, launched on September 2017.
The meeting focused on UN CC:Learn’s key messages and impact. New activities to promote global climate change literacy were also discussed, including the expansion of the e-learning platform with additional features, languages and products, as well as up-scaling of UN CC:Learn flagship initiatives.

Bulgaria :
(1) - The American-Bulgarian physicist and inventor John Vincent Atanasoff is credited with the invention of the first electronic digital computer. His machine was named the Atanasoff–Berry Computer.
(2) - Bulgaria is one of the oldest countries in Europe. It is also the only one, which never changed its name since its establishment in 681.
(3) - The oldest golden treasure in the world was found in Varna. In 1972, almost 300 graves were discovered in a necropolis in the industrial zone of Bulgaria’s Black Sea capital. The artefacts are dated at 4600 – 4200 BC! The treasure consists of a total of 3,000 items and weighs six kilograms.
(4) - The highest Bulgarian mountain, Rila Mountain, is also the highest on the Balkans. Its tallest peak – Musala (2,925 m/9,596 ft.) – is higher than Mount Olympus by seven metres.
(5) - A huge part of Bulgarian cuisine is the yoghurt. In 1905, a prominent Bulgarian physician and microbiologist, Stamen Grigorov, discovered the bacillus responsible for the existence of natural yoghurt. As a sign of recognition, the science community called it Lactobacillus bulgaricus. The name, which Bulgarians use for yoghurt, literally translates to sour milk (kiselo mleko).
(6) - Bulgarians welcome spring with Baba Marta (Grandma March). Every year on March 1st, we exchange martenitsi. The red and white woollen bracelets, necklaces, and little figures are a symbol of good health and prosperity.
(7) - The Bulgarian Orthodox Church is the oldest Slavic Orthodox Church. It was recognised as an independent church in 870 AD, only a couple of years after becoming the country’s official religion.
( - In addition to birthday celebrations, Bulgarians gather family and friends to rejoice their name days (Imenden) as well. These are the days when the saint or martyr with your name is honoured by the church. For many Bulgarians, the name day is a larger celebration than their birthday.
(9) - The Rose Valley, located between the mountains Stara planina and Sredna gora, produces approximately half of the world’s rose oil. The rose oil is extracted from a species called Rosa Damascena (Damask rose). It is an essential component in the cosmetics industry.
(10) - The Cyrillic script was developed in the First Bulgarian Empire during the 9th century AD at the Preslav Literary School by disciples of the Byzantine brothers Cyril and Methodius. The Bulgarian Saint Clement of Ohrid is often associated with the creation of the Cyrillic.
