Just A Cool Tree Branch

She's twelve years old. Can you believe it? I've found the perfect treat and now Daisy is no longer camera-shy! She has also lost some weight and she's looking good!

These are real live lizard pets, hanging out at the coffee shop, by Henry Lizardlover.

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain

We all have sorrow

But if we are wise

We know that there's always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you're not strong

And I'll be your friend

I'll help you carry on

For it won't be long

'Til I'm gonna need

Somebody to lean on

Class 42 "Warship" diesel-hydraulic D832 "Onslaught" at Watchet on the West Somerset Railway after arrival from Minehead during the 2010 Mixed Traffic Gala. We'd ridden on this train from Blue Anchor, and quite a run it was too!

Although based on a very successful design (the German V200) these locomotives had a very short service life (1958-1972) as a result of changes in traction policy within British Railways. Most were scrapped by the end of 1972, and only two survive in preservation.

The livery carried by D832 here (maroon with full yellow ends) is not the most aesthetically pleasing, but is one it carried while in service (shortly before repaining to BR Blue no doubt) and its current slightly tatty condition is probably about right for the period!

For more information on the Warship locomotives, please see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_42.

Please swallow your pride

If I have things you need to borrow

For no one can fill those of your needs

That you don't let show

Lean on me, when you're not strong

And I'll be your friend

I'll help you carry on

For it won't be long

'Til I'm gonna need

Somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear

That you can't carry

I'm right up the road

I'll share your load

If you just call me

So just call on me brother, when you need a hand

We all need somebody to lean on

I just might have a problem that you'd understand

We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me when you're not strong

And I'll be your friend

I'll help you carry on

For it won't be long

Till I'm gonna need

Somebody to lean on

BEHIND THE SCENE. (a la I Travel East)...It has been more than 20 years since I visited the railroad near our home in the province. The railroad was one our playgrounds where we waited for trains to pass by and had crown caps pressed by the metal wheels. On mornings, we always looked forward to the sunrise and run to this spot. We stared at the rising sun until our eyes ached and teary and marveled at the visions of light circles after.

So last December 27, I brought my son and my nephew for a photowalk to see what has happened to our "playground". The tracks were gone. The ricefields on both sides were now replaced by houses and shanties and are now called "home along the riles."

The only remembrance that was left was the metal bridge ahead, and the sun that shone on our faces...and the memories of childhood that will never be gone.
