Here are four potential options for the Soiree Bento Box quilt. The top two are more of the traditional Bento Box, just adjusting color placement differently. The bottom two use more of a window payne look and come from a quilt called "Boxed In' found in Sew Scrappy, Volume One by BHG Creative Collection, 2010. I think I like the two bottom best and maybe even leaning toward the black sashing...what do you think? Created with fd's Flickr Toys
The extension to the layout is progressing well, just final details to add and finish the Cement yard
My old layout built for a local exhibition (2010) ..... a very simple plan to permit to 11 engines to run simultaneously for hours and hours during a 15 days long show! Forgive me for the bad quallity video. Please notice: very heavy video, 3 min.
Spilsby is a rural market town in a predominantly agricultural area of Lincolnshire. It lies on the southern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds and north of the Fens. The railway station stood on a 4 mile long branch line between Spilsby and Firsby Junction where it connected to the main line between Cleethorpes and London.
The railway was opened in 1868 and from 1890 was operated by the Great Northern Railway. Passenger services were suspended in 1939, at the start of World War II, leaving only a freight service which continued until 1958 when the line was closed.
The layout is owned by two members of Sleaford Model Railway Club.

This years LEGO Train layout under the Christmas tree.
It looks like a ghost town because it never got detailed. I actually had to add the trees, plants, lights and anything that could easily be removed for the photos. I made the scenery as strong as I could to withstand my 14 month old and my 2 year old (who is almost 3 actually). What I didn't anticipate was the 2 year old taking it apart and then the 14 month year old trying to eat everything. So anything loose had to go. It was walked and crawled on with very little damage so that goal was reached...
There are no trains in the pictures because, honestly, I forgot to put it on there while I took the pictures. Nothing special though, I made a quick simple train that could withstand the kids. It didn't, but it was easy to reassemble.
The transition between the snow and the grass is not as good as it was originally, with some chunks missing in the back even. I built everything to face the other direction, but when I went to set it all up, I ended up having to reverse everything. Luckily it is LEGO so I could change it, but it didn't end up as nice as it was due to the time that I had to change it. I had some nice lines with the banks of snow and grass that I really liked. I will post some WIP shots that show it.
Overall I am pretty happy with how it came out.

So having spent an increasing amount of time looking into small scale "Micro" railroading, in terms of prototypes and models, and switching methods; the idea behind a small shelf layout for future endevers seems like an ever more attractive idea to me. I am also looking to begin freelancing one of several potential roads in the future.
I have two road ideas right now. One is Minnkota Rail Inc. which would be a freelanced railroad running between northeastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota. A slogan I have thought of for this railroad would be something like - "Minnesota, North Dakota - Together."
Another idea I have been kicking around is a pair of freelanced shortlines running around the Chicago area under the names "Chicago Rail Network." and "Northern Illinois Rail Network." the premise behind these could be similar to the former Camus Prairie Rail Network in Illinois.
Since both of these roads would work with small locomotives primarily (very few 3 axle units) and since yard operations and switching is what I have a passion for, I feel like I could integrate one or both of these railroads into a small shelf layout which involves just that.
All layout options would be for HO scale operations. Time period would likely be 1980s-1990s.
In doing this, I could likely thin out my rolling stock collection as well, which would allow me to get rid of some of my older cars which I have little use for.
I have uploaded the classic "Switchman's Nightmare" as an example of something similar to what I might want to do.
Any of my modeling inclined friends have an thoughts, suggestions etc? I am open to all thoughts!

Scene not in the final film.
"Drinks were on the house," I'm assuming. Item worth noting: this gag was used in another Tex Avery cartoon: "The Shooting of Dan McGoo." Checkit at 3:30 into the cartoon.

Valentine's day scrapbook layout
Digital layout idea
First the background paper is made with watercolors
Striped and circles glued on off different pink papers
siluette made by gluing a photo on black paper and then cutting it out. Works very well if the profile is very prominent ;-) You can also cut out the picture as it is, or print it in sepia or black-and-white and then cut it out.
Decorated with stickers, punch-flowers, cut-outs, stamps and markers
