Tigers are the biggest cats in the world, and Amur tigers are the biggest subspecies of tigers. Their large size, thick fur coat, layer of fat on their flanks and belly, and extra fluffy ruff keep them warm in extremely cold environments. There were once eight subspecies of tigers. Today, three are extinct. Three others are critically endangered, including the Amur tiger. It is estimated that only 350 to 450 Amur tigers survive in the wild. Besides being reduced in number, their range has also been reduced. Once, they lived throughout much of Siberia and surrounding areas, and for this reason they were often called Siberian tigers. Today, they are no longer found in Siberia or called by that name. Their "new" name comes from the Amur River, which flows through the middle of their current, reduced range in Russia.

‧ The Amur tiger is part of the Felidae family, which they share with other big cats.
‧ In the wild, they can live between 10-15 years, but in captivity, they live nearer to 20 years old.
‧ They live in forest and bush-covered mountains in eastern Russia, China, and North Korea.
‧ Their paws act as snowshoes to travel through deep snow.
‧ They are at the top of their food chain in the ecosystems in which they live.
‧ Amur tiger coat colour is a lighter orange than other tiger subspecies and becomes even more so in winter.

Layers are a practical and stylish solution to a day spent in changing environments. I often layer, but I also often find that the look is destroyed as I remove pieces. Today was an exception.
Zebra dress, Jones New York. Teal dress, London Times. Belt, thrifted. Boots, Rampage. Bracelet, Serket Jewelry.
Luke has been super into trains lately. It's so cute! I think that it may, in part, be because he wants everything that Carter has. He has such focus here!
I had the hardest time getting this WB correct. I think his skin is too red still, and the overall WB is too warm.
Also looking, do you think that red Christmas light in the center is distracting? That's the difference in exposure that I read about, and it would suggest that it may be distracting from the subject rather than adding to the photo.

Dressed last week but only just got around to posting these. Tried out the nylon layers routine again - stockings with pantyhose/tights on top. Quite like the patterns that the layers make!!!
Another banana leaf shot. This one is a stalk on the left, a leaf in the background, and one in the foreground with a backlit edge. This was about 6:30pm and great late afternoon backlighting.
