I made it the whole year without missing a day, and now I'm taking a little break from taking a photo every day. I have some ideas for more free-form projects for 2011 but I'm going to lay off on the forced creativity for a little bit to recharge.

These are scenes in and around Fries Va next to the New River in Grayson County. Some are of the Washington Cotton Mills which vanished in 1989 laying off 1700 employees. Many are the mill houses left behind from the mills employees. Black and White.

In attempt to change things up a little bit, I switched our morning brew over to the conventional espresso, a bag of which I had smuggled down to give to a friend. I ended up giving him something else entirely (oops) so we're reaping the benefits.
I promise to lay off the sunny apartment photos as soon as it stops being interesting. Out the window, you can see the avocado tree that's trying to invade our apartment. Imagine, a 3+ story avocado tree.

Members of OAPSE 238 and allies rallied in front of the Madison Board of Education to protest the recent privatization of the bus service, which meant lay offs for about 50 members of OAPSE 238.

UP's "Powered by our People" unit rounds the bay at Hercules with an Engineering Special. The unit is probably one of the most disliked specialty units, with UP praising their employees while laying off a large chunk of them. The unit went into storage for awhile but has resurfaced as the dedicated special train locomotive, replacing 1943.
This is my buddy Kelley Isenhower jammin the tunes @ The Southfork in Mulberry, Indiana. It seems that every time I see him play, I forget how I got home....perhaps we should lay off the Jägermeister!

Foul! Whether Enfield 'keeper Rob Blackburne should have tried to punch instead of trying to catch the ball, he was clearly barged out of the way before the ball got to him. The referee should have given Enfield Town a free kick instead of allowing Ilford to score from the lay-off which followed the foul.
There also appeared to be a handball in the move before the ball ever got this far.
