hey man, it is kinda easy to save money if you dont have to burn through it on bills. fortunatley i know how to save and that is the only way that i am staying afloat right now. after getting layed off 2 months ago i am depending on my savings to keep my head above water. well for starters, take your lunch and snacks to work with you. get you a good sized lunch bag and pack you a luch. instead of getting the coca cola brand or pepsi brand drinks get store brand drinks get a big variety pack of tater chips. make you a sandwich or something and take it all with you. when i was working i figured it up and when i started doing this i saved my self about 100 dollars a month. now the key is to set a goal for your self. everyone needs atleast 3 months of savings. that covers all your bills. figure up how much you need to survive for 3 months. rent, electic, water, insurance what ever. and you also need an entertainment fund. figure out how much you need to survive (not have a blast) survive from week to week. take what you have left and put 75 percent into your savings and the other 25 perent in your entertainment fund. the trick is to only use what is in the entertainment fund for entertainment. dont dip into the emergency fund to have fun off of. just make a goal and stick to the goal. oh yea, before you start putting away for your emergency fun gather all your bills, ones that are not like electric rent, gather any out standing medical bills, car payment, what every and take what you would put into your emergency fun and knock out these bills. you knock out those bills and then start saving. if you do this (and lord forbid you loose your job) all these little bills will be payed off and you will have 3 months of savings that you can depend on and still have a little in your entertainment fund if you need it. man i know that i rambled on and on but trust me right now now one can afford to throw away money (well some can) save every penny that you can put it away for your future. right now i am living off my savings and it is running to a quick end and i hope that i have a job before then but if i didnt have these savings i probably would not still have a roof over my head or food on the table for my family. good luck with your savings. It is never easy to save money, for one, you have to be smart and try not to spend more then you earn, so with that being said, it is not an easy thing to do, to control your spending before earning the cash and as soon as it comes in you have to save it and keep saving it and not buy expensive things every day of your life

The game finished in a hard fought 3-2 victory for Darlo. who were 2-0 up inside 27 minutes.

Hardy opended the scoring for the visitors latching onto a superb ball from Thompson before slipping the ball past the advancing keeper.

Quakers went two-up on 27 minutes but it should have been more as thye spurned a host of chnaces. Liam Marrs’ free-kick was headed down by Mark Beck for Hardy to lay off in turn for Thompson to fire across Frith.

Against the run of play United pulled a goal back on 42 minutes when Jason Gilchrist spotted Jameson off his line, and chipped the ball over the keeper followed by an equaliser on 66 minutes from Thomson.

A draw looked on the cards however with 10 minutes left subsititute Cartman cleverly found Purewal with an overhead kick for his fellow sub to charge up the left. His ball to the far post was blocked, but it came back out to Cartman, who struck a low shot that took a deflection and beat the keeper to make it 3-2. Darlo were able to weather a late storm to secure all 3 points!

Happening is the name of the most spiritual and uplifting experience of my life. Twice a year, about twenty high schoolers sign up for a weekend conference they know nothing about. And twice a year, about twenty high schoolers leave, changed forever. In October of 2005, I was one of those changed high schoolers. I learned to believe in spirit and self and love.

I entered the weekend having no expectations and no idea what I was in for; I left crying and never wanting to leave. Back in school on Monday, I seemed bubbly and better-than-ever. I wanted so much for everyone to feel a piece of what I was feeling, but whenever I tried to explain what I'd been through that weekend, people would say “Oh that's nice” and go back to their everyday lives. I wanted to scream and tell them that my life was changed and I was in love! But the second I started explaining that Happening was a “spiritual experience,” my friends would roll their eyes and say I was in a cult. “Lay off the blue juice,” they said. I laughed it off, but inside I was absolutely crushed. Knowing that they didn't want to hear about the best weekend of my life hurt more than I imagined. Reality was hard to accept after just being in what seemed like another world. Suddenly I was slammed back into books and homework, cliques and drama, and people who couldn't possibly understand the magnitude and power of what I'd just been through. Everything felt wrong. Happening felt right. When I arrived home from school, I went straight up to my room and cried.

I can honestly say that I have never laughed as much, smiled as much, and cried as much as I did those two days. When I say it out loud, it sounds so fake, like the weekend was a surreal-out-of-body experience. But Happening isn't just about the weekend, it's about taking the weekend out into the “real world” and spreading the light that shines within you. Happening is the place where I found my light. I learned to trust. I learned to love. I learned to be myself without worrying about what other people thought. Happening is the only place where I have ever been myself completely, with no masks to hide behind. It's the only place I've ever dropped my inhibitions and insecurities and let everyone around me see my true self. Even now, finding words to describe Happening seems impossible. It's a melting pot of emotions and a real life-changing experience. Until that weekend, I didn't know it was possible to feel so much feeling. I've never been so blinded by love about anything or anyone, but the love I feel for those people and that weekend is greater than any other kind of love I know. Because of Happening, I believe in spirit and love. Happening was my catalyst. What's yours?

The instant camera is a type of camera that generates a developed film image. The most popular types to use self-developing film were formerly made by Polaroid Corporation.

The invention of modern instant cameras is generally credited to American scientist Edwin Land, who unveiled the first commercial instant camera, the Land Camera, in 1948, a year after unveiling instant film in New York City. The earliest instant camera, which consisted of a camera and portable darkroom in a single compartment, was invented in 1923 by Samuel Shlafrock.

In February 2008, Polaroid announced it would discontinue production of film, shut down three factories and lay off 450 workers. Sales of chemical film by all makers have dropped by at least 25% per year in the first decade of the 21st century. Fujifilm is now the only remaining supplier of instant film in the United States. However, in October 2009, Polaroid announced it would bring back its classic instant film cameras, after announcing the year before that production was to be stopped.

Lawrence Dominic McCarthy was born in York, Western Australia, in August 1892. Having been orphaned at a young age, McCarthy listed no next of kin on his attestation papers when he joined the Australian Imperial Force in October 1914. He was brought up in Clontarf Orphanage in Perth and educated in Catholic schools.

World War I

Private McCarthy was posted to the 16th Battalion where his large build earned him the nickname "Fats". The battalion landed at Gallipoli on 26 April 1915 and McCarthy remained on the peninsula until illness forced his evacuation in September. By then he had been promoted to sergeant. He returned to duty in November and was among the last in his battalion to leave Gallipoli on 20 December.

By June 1916 the 16th Battalion were in France where they took part in the fighting at Pozières and Mouquet Farm in August. McCarthy was promoted to company sergeant major in March 1917 and the following month was commissioned as a second lieutenant. The day after receiving his commission, McCarthy was wounded at Bullecourt and evacuated to England where he spent three months in hospital and convalescing. In November he was promoted to lieutenant and was awarded the French Croix de Guerre. He spent the months between February and August 1918 training troops in England, before rejoining his battalion in time for the offensive that began on 8 August.

Victoria Cross action

Just over two weeks later, on 23 August 1918, McCarthy performed what some regarded as the most effective piece of individual fighting in the history of the AIF next to Albert Jacka's Military Cross winning feat at Pozières. Near Madam Wood, east of Vermandovillers, France, the battalion was heavily opposed by well-posted machine-guns. Lieutenant McCarthy, realizing the situation, dashed across the open ground with two men to the nearest post, where, having out-distanced his companions, he put the gun out of action, then continued fighting his way down the trench. Later, having been joined by one of his men, together they bombed their way along the trench until contact was established with an adjoining unit. During this action Lieutenant McCarthy had killed 22 of the enemy, taken 50 prisoners and captured 5 machine-guns.

Lieutenant Lawrence Dominic McCarthy VC c.1919

For this McCarthy was awarded the Victoria Cross that, within his battalion and in some quarters of the London press, came to be known as the "super-VC".

Later life

Ten days after the war ended, on 21 November 1918, McCarthy was evacuated to England with influenza. He returned to Australia in December 1919, having married Florence Norville the previous January. Their only son, Lawrence, was killed in action on Bougainville in 1945. McCarthy was demobilised in August 1920. He returned to Western Australia but moved to Victoria in 1926. He gained employment with the Sunshine Harvester Works remaining with them until 1934 when the company was forced to lay off staff during the Great Depression. He found new work the following year with the Trustees, Executors & Agency Co., and remained with that company until his retirement in 1969.

McCarthy died at the Repatriation General Hospital, Heidelberg in Melbourne in May 1975 and was cremated with full military honours. The Lawrence McCarthy ward at the former Repatriation General Hospital, Hollywood has been named in his honour.

His Victoria Cross is displayed at the Australian War Memorial (Canberra, Australia).

"Leadership was supportive and recognized that there was a sea change in effect. The harder part is selling the rank and file – the people who have been laser focused on people making sure they aren’t laying off people in their stores. Meanwhile, the world is changing, and we need to change the way we interact with customers [to move towards SM]."

Funding dirty coal? Not with our money.

Activists hung a banner on Bank of America's Charlotte, NC headquarters to tell the bank: "Not with our money!" People are fed up with Bank of America putting profits before people and planet. The bank is the largest funder of the US coal industry and the leading foreclosure on Americans' homes. Meanwhile, BoA is laying off 30,000 workers and hiking fees left and right. Enough is enough.

You too can tell Bank of America, "Not with our money!"

Pittsburgh was recently rated as having the dirtiest air in the United States. We beat out Los Angeles (We're number one! We're Number one!!). No, this isn't the past, where industry meant jobs. It's 2008 where the soot of industry is seen as "evil."

The reason that Pittsburgh got such a low rating is based on the placement of sensor near the Clairton Coke Works. This isn't a soft drink factory. No, they take coal and bake it to make coke and it's really dirty. Coke is then used in the steel making process. In fact, it's vital component of the Steel making process. Pictured are hopper cars filled with coke headed west to a mill in Gary, IN or some other city.

Clairton Coke Works recently received a pledge from USX, it's parent company, of $1 billion dollars. That's $1 billion dollars coming into the economy of Pittsburgh. In other words, business isn't leaving Pittsburgh, it's staying. What a turn from the past when the terms "Steel industry" meant lay-offs and shut downs and strikes.

As for air quality in Pittsburgh, I'd say we have more of a pollen problem than a soot problem... but that doesn't count in the air quality. The air is cleaner in Pittsburgh than any other large city i've been in. So, it seems, we are number one!

Just a few thoughts as I was "heading home."

Ok, some folks in my family don't like Jeff, but I have been trying to get him to model my latest creations . I cannot send Jeff back! He lost his passport somewhere between here and Hong Kong...on one of those wild late night party binges.

I don't know...is cropping Jeff's face better? Should I get him a real hair mostache? Tell me! I already told him to lay off the lip gloss...but he doesn't like the dry air here...his lips are always chapped.
