An alternate view of the scaffold 'road' built on Bridge Valley Road, all part of the £2.7m spent on stabilisation works. The organisation which oversees the repair and maintenance of disused railway tunnels is British Railways Board (Residuary), and they have an annual budget of just £4m for something like 600 tunnels and countless other structures, so that may put the sheer scale of this job into some sort of perspective! BRB(R) do not own this tunnel, Bristol City Council do. Quite why the council didn't just leave this road closed, only open to cyclists and walkers, I don't know, but you can bet if they ever did the Evening Post letters page would be full of fuming residents from Sea Mills, Clifton and Redland whinging about traffic! I once lived in Redland, so I know what the traffic's like!

One of the most striking exhibits in Launchpad, the 35-metre-long echo tube is hard to miss. Stand at one end and shout into the tube, then listen as your voice bounces back.
