Laughter is both an opposite and an equal

to falling

For both moments of humanity

You forget about your physical Pain

Poverty

Genocide

Discrimination

and are simply complex molecules moving

Dancing frantically

Trying like mad to keep you alive.

The keel-billed toucan (Ramphastos sulfuratus), also known as sulfur-breasted toucan, keel toucan, or rainbow-billed toucan, is a colorful Latin American member of the toucan family. It is the national bird of Belize. The species is found in tropical jungles from southern Mexico to Colombia. It is an omnivorous forest bird that feeds on fruits, seeds, insects, invertebrates, lizards, snakes, and small birds and their eggs.

“I remember

That I have fallen

Amidst the laughter

That surrounds me, and that sometimes

It gets too loud.”

I think laughter is the best medicine. If you can’t laugh at yourself, then you can’t laugh at life and the silliness of it all.

David Hasselhoff

There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor.

Charles Dickens

A good time to laugh is any time you can.

Linda Ellerbee

A wonderful thing about true laughter is that it just destroys any kind of system of dividing people.

John Cleese

A day without laughter is a day wasted.

Charlie Chaplin

Life is better when you’re laughing.

Anon

Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face.

Victor Hugo

Of all days, the day on which one has not laughed is the one most surely wasted.

Sebastien Roch

A person who knows how to laugh at himself will never cease to be amused.

Shirley MacLaine

Laughter is wine for the soul - laughter soft, or loud and deep, tinged through with seriousness - the hilarious declaration made by man that life is worth living.

Sean O'Casey

A smile starts on the lips, a grin spreads to the eyes, a chuckle comes from the belly; but a good laugh bursts forth from the soul, overflows, and bubbles all around.

Carolyn Birmingham

Among those whom I like or admire, I can find no common denominator, but among those whom I love, I can: all of them make me laugh.

W. H. Auden

From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere.

Dr. Seuss

With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

We walked past this on our Good Friday walk from Postbridge through Bellever Forest. Doesn't look like a working farm anymore and the farmhouse further along has boarded up windows.

The farm has been there since 1733 and is in an abandoned state, however living here would be quite a remote existence.

Although I have geotagged this image, it is a relative approximation.

The summer air was heavy and sweet

You and I on a crowded street

I can see us there

In a happy little foreign town

Where the stars hung upside down

Far, far away

I remember you were laughing

We were so in love

And the band played

Songs that we had never heard

But we danced anyway

We never understood the words

We just sang oh

La la la la la la la la

And we danced anyway

Well they say you can't go back

But baby I don't believe that

Come on and dance with me

Well maybe if I hold you close

Baby we could just let go

We'll come back around

You remember we were laughing

So in love

And the band played

Songs that we had never heard

But we danced anyway

We never understood the words

We just sang oh

La la la la la la la la

And we danced anyway

You remember we were laughing

We were so in love

We were so in love

And the band played songs that we had never heard

But we danced anyway

Never understood the words

We just sang oh

La la la la la la la la

And we danced anyway

We danced anyway

Not just horses but my laughter and freedom . . .

I ran down to the beach, which probably was not the brightest of my own ideas as it was icy, cold, and it was early in the morning. At this point I didn't care. I prayed that the Lord would paint the sky and I was not about to miss the beauty He had in store. I set up my equipment as quick as possible and kicked my legs out on the beach and shot picture after picture and just sat there and laughed. I laughed in joy with the Lord and I will forever remember how special this morning was! He is so good and full of beautiful surprises for His children and for the brokenhearted in the world. I am so thankful that God is infinite as it means I can spend the rest of my life discovering sweet and amazing truths about Him and yet there will still be more to find!

Happy Easter everyone. I hope it is filled with love and laughter. And may it bring some peace around the world.

For the Smile on Saturday challenge: "collage in black & white"

I first got curious about the fork when I saw the film "Becket". In the film the fork was seen as a novelty - and an 'invader' to England. There was much laughter and disdain from the Saxons at the king's table. I've since discovered that there is very little historical accuracy in the film (and not only about forks!) it's a Hollywood frothy concoction! But the essence, that the fork was a late-comer to Britain (indeed to Europe) is true. The best guess is a Byzantine princess brought us all the gift!

Today there are somewhere between 30 and 35 different kinds and shapes of fork - from 2 to 4 tines - from a tuning fork to a gardening fork to an everyday table fork! Here I've mixed cake forks and a few general table forks to admire closely...

Palliative care. End of life care. Two more days to live, says the doctor with the computer screen. He is like a visitor from another planet. Making pronouncements, about life or death. Does not know the "patient". Then, "four weeks to live". That was four months ago. The "patient" gets tenderness from the nurses who are talking with him, touching him, listening to his stories. The patient is asking them about their lives, their hopes and all the suffering. Suddenly, worlds of communication are opening up. Stories are shared. The patient is a person again, laughing, sometimes about the doctors, sometimes in the face of life's end. That laughter!

The vestiges of summer lingered like a fading perfume—sunlight warm but gentler now, brushing against golden fields gone to seed. Crickets still sang, though slower, softer, as if aware the season's breath was drawing thin. Children’s laughter echoed in the distance, chasing fireflies one last time. The lake, once crowded with splashes, now mirrored quiet skies. A lone sunflower, browning at the edges, bowed beneath a cooling breeze. Ice cream trucks came less often. Evenings fell quicker, with a hint of chill. And in the hush between sunset and stars, summer whispered goodbye, leaving behind memories warm as the sun.

In life's reflection, we glance,

Through moments of song and dance.

With laughter we thrive,

In shadows we strive,

Each step, a unique, cosmic trance!

This is my favorite quote from a book I read this year by David Yoon entitled Frankly in Love about young forbidden love first between a Korean American boy and a white girl at his school and then oddly between two Korean Americans..it's about friction within the culture...it's about a stubborness that refuses to take a break and it's about terminal illness too...and friendship...and sexual orientation as well just a bit.

It's complicated.
