In the early hours of this morning the cargo ship Swanland sank in the Irish Sea off Bardsey Island loaded with limestone from Raynes Jetty Llanddulas. Let's hope the crew are found.

Day One: Flowers laid in front of the death clock – marking more than 50 million people who have died as a result of tobacco-related diseases since work began on the UN tobacco control Convention in October 1999.

Day 6 (final day): Government negotiators photograph each other by an installation of enlarged model cigarettes, intended to highlight cigarettes' toxic content, outside the conference centre in Punta del Este, Uruguay.

The section between Irlam and Latchford closed to shipping today as the water was lowered to effect repairs to the sluice gates here at Latchford locks 28/09/12.

8 October: Public buses in Pakistan begin carrying strong anti-tobacco messages. So far there are four buses with these messages running between the cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
