Laptop wrap

Like a snuggle blanket for your laptop!

My laptop doesn’t leave my desk very often so doesn’t really need a ‘bag’ to carry it about. I do however want to be able to ‘put it away’ and keep it comfy when I’m not using it! So this is my solution.

The wrap when unfolded acts as a soft mat to protect surfaces underneath it as well as a handy place to put your coffee! It is also a soft surface for your hands and wrists to rest on when typing.

As it literally wraps your laptop, it is slim - lined and fits easily under your arm or inside another bag if you need to take it for a trip out.

It is made using a selection from a Half Moon Modern jelly roll with a plain grey cotton for the lining. It is padded with wadding and a heavy sew - in interfacing used to give structure. There is also a lightweight sew in interfacing on the lining to provide a crisp surface suitable for a mouse. There is also Velcro used to secure the folds and keep it wrapped up snuggly.

I feel the ‘sliced’ theme is reflected in the angled piecing I have used throughout and also in the scissor print which caught my eye when selecting fabric for this project.

It is very simple and functional and I am really pleased with it!

Deployment of Windows 7 laptops to corporate network

It's so shiny and pretty, that I hate to even touch it.

Thanks for everyone who sent me stickers and approvals to use them. These are pictures of the laptops that the hackers will be using. More info about the movie on my blog.

A sweet IBM 560. Circa 1995, purchased on ebay sometime in 1999. Windows 95, 12" 800x600 screen. External floppy, 6Gb harddisk, no optical drive, no ethernet or modem. A lot of trade offs, but on the other hand, it was pretty darn light.

Too bad it suffers from random shutdown syndrome. Took it to an IBM laptop specialist who yelled at me for taking it apart myself, then kept the laptop for 3 weeks but couldn't fix it himself either. Oh well, at least he didn't charge me.

Today I booted it up for the last time to make sure I wasn't leaving any personal data on it. Sometime this week, I'm dropping off a crap load of old PC junk at my local recycler.

Quanta frescura, caixa com espuminha e tudo perfeitamente embalado parece uma jóia.

"Product advertisement"

This was a bit harder than I expected. I knew I wanted a bit of a challenge. I figured I would try to highlight a local/regional brand (this is a microbrew from Lakeland, which is about midway between Orlando and Tampa). I could have done a wine bottle, but those can be a bit cliche (even though they aren't exactly easy to light well). I learned aluminum cans aren't easy to light either.

This gave me an opportunity to play around with my off camera flash and some modifiers, but I just didn't have decent space to move and position them as they probably should have been. And unfortunately I don't really have the time to play around some more this weekend. I do have a few other ideas, but maybe for a later date. Also, I learned how to remote capture directly to the laptop, so that really helped.

HAHAHA I finally got a blueberry clamshell. How much did I drool at those laptops in the past?

I have no life, instead I have too many laptops.
