This photo was taken while trekking around the Tolerance Statue exhibit located in Houston Texas along Allen Parkway and Buffalo Bayou at the intersection of Montrose.
The Tolerance statues were created by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa. There are seven 10-foot tall metal statues that comprise the exhibit. Each statue is created from the letters and numbers of several different languages. This shot was taken to show just some of the numbers and letters used to create each of the seven statues.

PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. -- The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center Joint Service Color Guard, along with marching units from the four service branches, once again kicked off Pacific Grove's Good Old Days festival by leading the parade along Pine St. on April 11.
The Annual Good Old Days Celebration and Music Festival started in 1957 and is a two-day event in downtown Pacific Grove with live music, parade, vendors and carnival rides.

January’s Late invited visitors to unlock the science of codes to discover alternative languages, secret messages, and new meanings within our culture and artifacts. Highlights included an exploration of how emoji help us communicate in the digital age; an interactive workshop teaching the body language secrets hidden in our dance floor moves; the cryptic challenge of translating the universal language concocted to beam into the space in search of interstellar conversation; an exploration of the illicit codes used by queer women to covertly communicate through art history; and a range of interrogations of the wide-spread ramifications of computer coding innovation on the possibilities for modern communication.

Tibetan language support has made the Iphone popular among Tibetans. A little book gives Tibetan and Chinese language versions of sample short messages. Chapters with representative short text messages in categories of religion, dating, reflections, love and blessings.
This is one of my favorite places in Southeast Asia.
Luang Prabang (ຫລວງພະບາງ in Laotian or Louang Phabang), commonly transliterated into Western languages from the pre-1975 Lao spelling ຫຼວງພຣະບາງ literally meaning "Royal Buddha Image," is a city in north central Laos, consisting of 58 adjacent villages, of which 33 comprise the UNESCO Town Of Luang Prabang World Heritage Site. It was listed in 1995 for unique and "remarkably" well preserved architectural, religious and cultural heritage, a blend of the rural and urban developments over several centuries, including the French colonial influences during the 19th and 20th centuries.
The center of the city consists of four main roads and is located on a peninsula at the confluence of the Nam Khan and Mekong rivers. Luang Prabang is well known for its numerous Buddhist temples and monasteries. Every morning, hundreds of monks from the various monasteries walk through the streets collecting alms. One of the city's major landmarks is Mount Phou Si, a large steep hill which despite the constrained scale of the city, is 150 meters (490 feet) high, a steep staircase leads to Wat Chom Si shrine and an overlook of the city and the rivers.
The city was formerly the capital of a kingdom of the same name. It had also been known by the ancient name of Chiang Thong. It was the royal capital and seat of government of the Kingdom of Laos, until the Pathet Lao takeover in 1975. The city is part of Luang Prabang District of Luang Prabang Province and is the capital and administrative center of the province. It lies approximately 300 kilometers (190 miles) north of the capital Vientiane. Currently, the population of the city as a whole is roughly 56,000 inhabitants with the UNESCO protected site being inhabited by around 24,000.

All kindergarten through 5th grade classroom teachers and ELL teachers attended a professional development session lead by national teaching artists on March 21st. They worked with arts integration strategies centered around the Music of Language. Teachers tried the interactive strategies throughout the session as they used their bodies to keep a steady beat while manipulating language.
The Des Moines Botanical Garden was home base for K-2 teachers attending the third and final session of the arts integration PD series that's aligned with the K-5 EL literacy curriculum.
For the first time in history sign language was used in a marketing campaign to promote a sound system in a movie theatre. This campaign received a lot of attention and caused quite a stir among some parts of the deaf community.
