Foggy morning reflections in an old meander of the river Durme, tributary of the Scheldt, near Hamme. Interesting that the seagull reflected in the water wasn't captured in the sky.
The Oude Durme is a series of old meanders cut off from the current river Durme in the 1930s, located between the municipalities of Hamme and Waasmunster in East-Flanders. For centuries the lower course of the Durme ensured seasonal inundation of the bordering hayfields and marshes, some of the most fertile in the province. Low embankments were built to protect the fields from flooding in the summer months. Even today the historical landscape with its original dikes, smaller meadow irrigation relicts and lines of walnut trees bordering the Oude Durme, is well preserved. The Durme marshes have been an inspiration for painters since the 19th century - as they remain for photographers today.

Primary dune formation takes place on the wide beaches of Ameland.
During a large supply of sand on the coast, a wide beach forms and a part of this sand remains behind obstacles such as seaweed, ropes and fish boxes.
A small freshwater lens develops in the resulting heap of sand and thanks to the nitro-rich decaying waste, colostrum grass and then marram grass will soon sprout to hold the sand.
The rounded dune tops in this image are about 2 meters high.

Es hat geschneit und es ist kalt. Sehr kalt.
Wenigstens befinden sich meine Füßen in wunderbar warmen Stiefeln.
Der Himmel ist strahlend blau und es ist eine Freude, so dahin zu gehen und die Natur zu genießen.
Allein.
Aber nicht einsam.
Menschen mit Hund sind auch unterwegs ...
Ever changing light!
Mornings like this one justify why I sometimes just setup the tripod and stay rooted to the same spot for sometimes over an hour.
Watching the blue hour tones give way to yellows, oranges and reds until the sun rises and shows the natural greens of the countryside and blue from the clear sky!
The rolling mist just adds some lovely atmosphere and mood to the conditions around!
