T'boli women prepare what is locally known as "nga-nga" shortly before dusk at Tawan dagat village in Barangay Ned, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato. "Nga-nga" is mixture of beetle nut wrapped in mint leaf along with other spices and once chewed, it produces a red orange moisture. It has been par of the indigenous peoples tradition. Tawan Dagat is one of the four indigenous communities affected by the expansion of the coffee plantation in the area. The Philippines celebrate indigenous peoples month every October.
Aside from helping farmers conserve traditional abaca in Lake Sebu, Ifugao Province, FAO is also working with the Philippine Fiber Development Authority (PhilFiDa) to assist farmers in fibre processing and designing tools to help improve quality. These quality fibres are important for the weaving of T'nalak, which is recognized as an important cultural product of T'boli women. ©FAO/JP Dimacali

My wife tagged along for a photo assignment as my assistant. Our 10th wedding anniversary fell on one of the shooting days.
Our T'boli friends lent us some traditional wear for a shoot during a lunch break.
