I took this photo for the Smile on Saturday group theme "Lace". The flowers I used here are dried lavender. In the comments I add another capture which shows my cat's appoach to the theme and it wasn't easy to decide which photo I Iike better.

This long time abandoned farmhouse isn't much to look at but the lace curtains in a single upstairs window hint at some elegance in its distant past.
A lace ribbon placed on paper that to me looks like lace too. I put a little frame over the ribbon to bring it into focus

While travelling in Portugal, I had the opportunity to visit a beautiful private home in Porto, where we got to sample some lovely Port & learn that it goes so perfectly with chocolate. These lace curtains bring back such wonderful memories - one of the best perks of travel.

It has probably been about 40 years since I had a shuttle in my hand, a tatting shuttle. I taught myself this art along with crocheting, knitting, macrame, and sewing. If you ever saw someone "tatting", it is sort of a bizarre lookIng process that creates beautiful lace. When I saw this challenge, I had to go digging for this tiny sewing basket that had my threads in it. Unfortunately, the shuttle was missing or it would have been part of the composition. I wonder where that shuttle is.

Taking these pictures definitely reminded me why my classmates and I have decided unanimously not to use these torture instrum... I mean these pretty, delicate shoes anymore. 😄 They're beautiful and it's a great sense of achievement, but OW, they HURT.

Queen Anne's Lace blossoms such as this one are compound flowers made up of many tiny white flowers arranged in a flat-topped cluster. The nectar is located at the base of the tiny flowers, which is ideal for pollinators with short proboscises like the honey bee you see here.
