This Hesperian brand apple crate label was used by Myron Foster during the early 20th century. The label was lithographed by the Schmidt Lithograph Company of Seattle, Washington. The label has an orange background with the image of a blue woman holding a golden apple. In Greek mythology, Hesperides were three nymphs, daughters of Hesperus (the Evening Star), who guarded Hera’s garden and its immortality-granting golden apples. Hesperian also means “relating to the West,” a very apt brand name for these Wenatchee, Washington apples.

Went to the North West Phillumenists exhibition and swap meet at the Memorial Hall. Got a few bargains from the cheap folders.

Yes, they used to use x-ray machines to help fit shoes. (The practice went on as late as the '70s.)

Letterpress Homebrew label. A new creation for a field that seems sadly underrepresented. Hence, a simple, single-color, adhesive-backed label with all the necessaries.

Mailing labels.
Address on blue envelope is upside down because it wraps over the top of the envelope. When envelope is closed it "reads" right side up.

I made name labels for the kids' things using this project:

I didn't iron the raw edges under on the labels I sewed on, and then I zig-zag stitched, and some of the edges frayed right out of the thread with the first wash. I think this problem wouldn't present itself if I had ironed. I just totally forgot that step.
The label snaps off so there won't be lumps when you use the front. :)
First time I used shot cotton- LOVED it- it has such a nice hand and drape.
LABEL WHORE....Those old labels from a bygone era
LABEL WHORE is all about LABELS ON CLOTHING and folks who LOVE them!
Vintage labels have awesome graphic design. So, run to your local thrift shop, vintage shop, or, hella yes, your own closet and PHOTOGRAPH THE CLOTHING LABEL for LABEL WHORE.
Of course 'vintage' gets the AWESOMENESS, but designer or regular labels on clothing will do fine, too.
This group is to HIGHLIGHT the clothing LABEL only, and NOT the article of clothing. So, no full clothing shots, and none with people in the clothes , no matter how hella cool you look in it.
It is a PUBLIC GROUP , so keep it SAFE for EVERYONE. (Hey, budding clothing designers start young, you know.)
And, even the group is called LABEL WHORE, yes, that is an edgy term but really, it's a term everyone uses. After all, it's in the dictionary, well, ok, not the everyday dictionary that schools use, but it is in MY dictionary.
NO BULLYING, NO RUDENESS, and NO TRASH TALK on photo comments in the group...
Cleverness counts. And oh my, finding that gem like 'STRAIGHT BOTTOM' label...well, I have to tell you. I almost passed out when I saw that label on a shirt. Really, like I mean, passed out cold right there in the thrift store. (Can you imagine? Hello 911, we have a LABEL WHORE who fainted over the sight of an original Giorgio Armani label here at G.W.! So, like, if that ever happened to you, then this is YOUR group...you LABEL WHORE!)
Absolutely NO photos that would be deemed inappropriate for a large audience...THESE ARE PHOTOS OF CLOTHING LABELS ONLY...got it?, Ok...now have fun, and enjoy...YOU LABEL WHORE, YOU.
I've had several questions about how I make my labels, so I made this little tutorial. It's very easy, but maybe not the best solution if you need lots of labels as the sewing and turning inside out of the labels can take some time. You can fit a lot of labels in one yard of fabric, there are about 520 labels in this yard, but it depends on the size of your logo. Another advantage is that you can get lots of different colours.
The smallest, crappiest label maker I have ever seen. Still in its original packaging. 4 inches long. You can actually press the lever through a hole in the back of the card to see what it feels like (not very good). Takes three inch tape strips (right). It does not take a tape cartridge, but if you want to juggle the machine and a cartridge to make a label, Dymo has provided a FREE! cutter (left). The instructions on how to center a label on one of the strips are ridiculously complicated and involve much subtraction and division.
In September 1979 we stayed 2 nights in a small room in this hotel in Basel.

But it also could be the truth that we asked the price for a room, took this luggage label and left the hotel.... (I really don't know).

Simple 1/0 letterpress printed mailing labels. As the invitation was ultimately shipped in a cardboard tube, this utilitarian piece became the entry into a pretty extensive invitation suite.
