Viaggiare con la mente, gli occhi non contano più! Questa mia nuova serie rompe definitivamente con la realtà o meglio: la smonta e la riassembla con le mie passioni, i miei pensieri le mie ossessioni. Fotograficamente parlando è un viaggio ipnotico, pure allucinazioni fotografiche. Una sorta di LSD figurata! Si apre un mondo di combinazioni, emozioni, scritture visive...in cui la mia droga si chiama Passione!

On a pretty unsuccessful trip to North Ave beach the other weekend, I stopped on the bridge over Lake Shore Drive to capture the traffic cruising by and the backdrop of the city. The rest of the morning was filled with drab light and a lot of cloud cover. oh well. Happy Monday!

A couple of years ago Chester Kropidlowski, PE, a former traffic engineer with the Chicago Department of Transportation, dropped off a sleeve of old slides for me to hang onto. They've done no one any good sitting on my back counter, so I've started scanning them into the computer.
This is how Lake Shore Drive looked south of the river up into the 80's. That east-west section, running along the river, is where the triple-decker Wacker Dr. sits now. The north-south leg has been demolished and redeveloped. Note also the south bank of the river; there must have been some landfill put in to accommodate the riverwalk currently on that site.
I'm guessing this was taken from the Prudential Building, which is inline with this view and once had the highest roof in Chicago.
This image must be from pre-1963 based on the state of construction at the Jardine Water Purification Plant north of Navy Pier compared to the plant in this similar 1963 photograph.
