A20 - Perpezac-le-Noir 17/06/2015 12h18

Driving on the A20 just before the junction with the A89 (La Transeuropéenne, which connects Lyon with Bordeaux) towards Clermont-Ferrand and Lyon. We continued on the A20 (l'Occitane) to exit at St-Yriex-la-Perche on another stretch of the A89.

Autoroute A20

The A20 autoroute or l'Occitane is a highway through central France. It is 428 kilometres long. The road travels through the areas of Occitania, Limousin and Midi-Pyrénées. It starts at Vierzon in Cher and finishes in the south at Montauban in Tarn-et-Garonne. However further sections between Orléans and Vierzon (A71) and Montauban-Toulouse (A62) could be renamed the A20 in the not too distant future. L'Occitane is free from Vierzon to Brive-la-Gaillarde via Limoges.

The operating companies are ASF between Cressensac and Montauban, DDE in the department between Vierzon and Nespouls. The road crosses the following departments Cher, Indre, Creuse, Haute-Vienne, Corrèze, Lot, Tarn-et-Garonne.

The autoroute was proposed to reduce the travel time along the RN20 and to avoid congestion during holiday periods at Châteauroux, Argenton-sur-Creuse, Saint-Benoît-du-Sault, Limoges, Uzerche, Brive, Souillac, Cahors and Montauban.

Short history:

Pre 1992: The Brive and Limoges by-pass.

1992 to 2000: creation of the various sections of the autoroute A20.

In the long term, a new by-pass for Limoges is proposed (The A20bis project), in order to return the section of the A20 motorway which crosses the Limoges conurbation to its original planned use as a major urban road.

Thalys L'Occitane 18/08/2019 16h47

In the Summer of 2018 Thalys and L'OCCITANE, international retailer of body, face, fragrances and home products, got together with a joint promotion onboard of the Thalys Soleil from and to Amsterdam and Bruxelles to the South of France. I had to make a detailed shot of the headrest protection of l'Occitane.

It was possible to have a hand massage onboard during the journey done by a representatrive of this brand.

Photo taken prior departure from Marseille Saint-Charles.

H4D-50 with HC 150mm f3.2 mounted. Walking around M Street in Georgetown. Most shots are shot at ISO 50. Overall the performance is decent. Can't get the same insane level of crop that you can from a PhaseOne P65+ but overall its a decent camera with many improvements from the H3D series of cameras.

A great tapas bar with lots of nibbly choices!

The modern tapas was a little too modern for us though.

I am quite a shopper. Really, though, I am a bargain hunter. Much of the designer items I own were purchased at outlets or at least on sale. But I still could not resist a walk through Europe's finest department stores (or "grands magasins" as we say in French), one of which is Paris' Galeries Lafayette, which would be a mall, except it's all the same store. All those balconies are different departments.

A20 | Sadroc 17/06/2015 12h23

Driving on the A20 and passing a 1964/1973 Fors Mustang is not very usual in France. It gave us a bit of driving on the Route 66 instead of the autoroute A vingt.

Ford Mustang

The Ford Mustang is an American automobile manufactured by Ford. It was originally based on the platform of the second generation North American Ford Falcon, a compact car. The original Ford Mustang I four-seater concept car had evolved into the 1963 Mustang II two-seater prototype, which Ford used to pretest how the public would take interest in the first production Mustang which was released as the 1964 1/2, with a slight variation on the frontend and a top that was 2.7 inches shorter than the 1963 Mustang II. Introduced early on April 17, 1964, and thus dubbed as a "1964½" model by Mustang fans, the 1965 Mustang was the automaker's most successful launch since the Model A. The Mustang has undergone several transformations to its current sixth generation.

The Mustang created the "pony car" class of American automobiles—sports-car like coupes with long hoods and short rear decks —and gave rise to competitors such as the Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, AMC Javelin, Chrysler's revamped Plymouth Barracuda and the first generation Dodge Challenger. The Mustang is also credited for inspiring the designs of coupés such as the Toyota Celica and Ford Capri, which were imported to the United States.

I now smell like an aromatherapy shop - which rox. My mind feels much clearer, which also rox.

People at work won't pelt me with stones for forgetting to buy shower gel at the weekend (hence the raid of my travel bag - "douche bag").

I love my mate Sandra for buying me this for Xmas.

l'Occitane 05/07/2014 16h33

We made the detour via Manosque to visit the factory, museum and shop of the natural and organic ingredient-based cosmetics and well-being products manufacturer l'Occitane in Manosque where the world head quarters is located. Because it was Saturday it was not possible to visit the factory, but the museum and store were open. l'Occitane is located outside Manosque on the industrial area of Manosque.

l'Occitane en Provence

L'Occitane en Provence and commonly known as L'Occitane, is an international retailer of body, face, and home products based in Manosque, France. The company was founded in 1976 by Olivier Baussan with the purpose to create a company that celebrates and preserves the traditions of his native Provence. The company name means "the Occitania woman from Provence".

L'OCCITANE is founded in 1976 by Olivier Baussan, with the dream of sharing the Provençal art-de-vivre and savoir-faire with the world.

The first L'Occitane boutique opened in 1978 in Volx, a village in Provence. Baussan found a disused soap factory in Manosque, another Provençal village, which he took over to manufacture vegetable-based soaps using traditional methods. In the 1990s, Baussan sold a majority stake in the business to venture capitalists to finance expansion. As their approaches were incompatible, Baussan found himself excluded from daily management and strategic decision-making.

Today l'Occitane counts 2,572 boutiques worldwide and employs more than 7,600 people.

We have visited the museum of l'Occitane en Provence located right next to the factory. It was worth the visit. On display are some old soap cutting machines and distillation equipment for making perfumes and you get an idea how the small company grew into a multinational like it is today.

I'd like to think I used up 2014, just like this empty tube of L'Occitane moisturizer!

A 'relaxing' candle - Lavender, Tea Tree and Geranium. Lovely to burn at bedtime.

During our holiday trip I witnessed a few accidents on the motorway.

I hope no one was seriously injured.
