The Lode village sign mostly celebrates the old mill house on the Anglesey Abbey estate. I think lower down there's a fish and an insect, maybe a dragonfly? Hard to tell! At the top is the arms of Lord Fairhaven.
St James is a diminutive Victorian church in a diminutive village. Lode stretches along a single road north of the B1102, the main road from Cambridge to Burwell. It follows the little stream of Bottisham Lode to the point where the fens are reached, and presumably originated as a small waterside hamlet within the parish of Bottisham. Just to the west of the village is the National Trust property of Anglesey Abbey, which is well worth a look
Exelent model by TrashMonkey22 of YouTube and the Lego warehouse. This is a NorCal/Recycology Lodal.

15.6.2017. GWR Churchward designed 4000 Class 4-6-0 No 4003 'Lode Star' stands in the NRM York.
Built in 1907 it was one of the first of its class to be constructed. The design was influenced by de Glehn, a French engineer, who used four cylinders on his locomotives. Churchward copied this and it made the engines fast and powerful.
4003 was withdrawn in 1951 having covered over 2,000,000 miles - it was preserved at the Great Western Museum in Swindon from 1962 before being transferred to York in 1992.
It is the only surviving member of its class.
Anglesey Abbey's Lode Mill dates from the 18th century, but early records, including the 1068 Doomsday Book describe a building on this site. The Lode Mill was restored to full working order in 1982 by the Cambridgeshire Wind and Watermill Society. Today you can step inside and see how the power of water is harnessed to grind tens of tons of flour every year. Freshly ground flour from the Mill and oatmeal are sold by the bag, direct from the Abbey, delicious for bread making or dumplings!

The forecast was for a mix of sun and clouds, but it was a bluebird day as far as we were concerned. We've done this scramble many times, but never tire of it. We walked around 6.5 km's return distance, gaining, with all the ups and downs 769 m's of elevation, taking 4 hours to do so.
