This has recently re-appeared after spending many years hidden in the undergrowth. This stood on the down platform for those passengers travelling towards Cambridge on this GER Cambridge to Mildenhall branch line. The line was twin track through the station. The station building still exists and is out of shot to the right.

Daubuz's Engine House, South Wheal Frances by Roger Powley

Erected in 1879 and named after a principal shareholder in the mine, a 30" rotative engine was installed to wind and pump (via flat rods) from Daubuz's Shaft which was sunk to access the Great Flat Lode. The engine worked until 1918 when Basset Mines who had merged with South Wheal Frances, closed.

There could not be many times that a GWR Star class stood with a brand new DMU but it happened when Peter visited Swindon running shed. 4003 Lode Star was in the process of being made presentable for the Swindon Railway Museum. Lode Star looks in very good condition with just the name and number plates removed for safe keeping and the motion removed for ease of movement.

4003 was a Churchward Star class, it was built in February 1902, it was withdrawn from 87E Llandore depot 18/07/1951
