I'm sure everyone knows by now that I love finding old homes and old barns, so it's no surprise that this beautiful rural home is one of my favorites of 2021. It seemed to be surrounded by a quiet peacefulness that I found charming.
For this old Guy, “Livin’ the Dream” means escaping Southern California’s Life in the Fast Lane and finding a peaceful place… I was successful today :)

The American Oyster catchers hang out on the beach in the heat of the day. The sun was high but the interaction between mom and Junior was awesome. I only managed a few shots without a lot of harsh shadows.

We thought it would be interesting to pack up and head west...
The morning sunlight is a welcome relief to this old shack in Humbug. The miner who lived here would have been living the high life, much more comfortable than those who slept in tents or under the stars. There are many of these old shacks scattered around the town. Some are quite obvious and some are hidden away in thick groves of trees and brush. Some look to be still occupied but I don't know by whom, unless it's the spiders, the mice, and the wood rats. They do provide a nice glimpse into the past and give the mind something to think about. Living in the present is all well and good, but we should never forget our roots.

I'm posting this shot in honor of my return trip to Colorado this weekend. I will stand in this exact spot and hopefully take a shot with snow in it.
So yes, you'll be seeing a long line of Colorado/Rocky Mountain landscape and nature shots over the next couple of weeks.

What a contrast of opposite colors onthe color wheel. We had to pull over and get this. The flowers stretched for about 2 miles and the storm was just really starting to take shape. Imagine living at this farm. I bet the sunsets are outstanding.

It had raindrops on it this morning, touched up a bit with a spray bottle, an experiment with focus stacking using Helicon Focus.
