Stacks Wood, books is an art work by David Harper. Created in 2005 at The Stone Quarry Hill Art Park, Cazenovia, N.Y.
Harper, a Cazenovia-based, artist is telling us a story in Stacks. From a fallen tree to the page of a book, the transformation of wood is represented in this bookcase.

Working on some compositions for Monday's Macro theme, Connection. I will be away tomorrow for the annual Labor Day family beach day. Happy Labor Day to you all!
Ah ha, it's Macro Mondays time again and this week's challenge is to take a macro 'from the top', which I have interpreted to be as 'from above'.
And omg I thought, how was I going to get some pretty coloured bokeh in the macro if I had no depth of field to play with?
Make some depth of course!
So off I went to the glazier and came home with a nice bit of glass, which is held above my other bit of glass by a couple of books. the glitter is on the bottom one, and the bracelet on the top. And a combo of natural window light for the bracelet, and LED to sparkle the glitter.
The bracelet is one I have had for absolutely ages. I don't wear it much but I love it.
oh, and the bottom 'glass' is actually the black screen on my tablet lol.
(I'll get out of this sparkly bokeh thing soon I promise)

I bought a convertible while there were here and we drove there in it. I had forgotten how much fun it is to drive with the top down.

Please meet my new HDR machine gun, the Nikon D300, here with the Sigma 10-20mm. It fired over 250 shots (in burst of 7 auto-bracketed exposures) during 30 minutes! OK, I only used a total of 16 exposures for this Vertorama.
It's an incredible camera, there will be some learning curve before I can really enjoy its amazing features.
On the annoying part, my D300 was apparently born with a hardware defect: sometimes the data link between the body and the lens is lost, therefore the autofocus stops to work. It will be replaced this Monday.

Messier 94 or NGC 4736 or The Cat's Eye Galaxy. A Spiral Galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici. Magnitude 9 and lying at a distance of 16 million light years from Earth.

Equipment: Celestron 8 inch Newtonian Reflector on an AVX Mount and a Canon 500D.
Guided with a ZWO 60mm guidescope and an Orion SSAG and PHD 2.6.
7x360s and 5x300s exposures at ISO 800, with Darks.
I hiked several miles up onto the new section of the Foothills Parkway last January before it opened up to make these pictures. I believe it is one of the prettiest views of the Smoky Mountains particularly since you can drive there now that it is open.
This section of the parkway is known as the "Missing Link"
