If you are a trusted friend with access to original size, it's fun to browse the titles. There's a big thick book on constipation. Amazing.

The Library of Birmingham is a public library in Birmingham, England. It is situated on the west side of the city centre at Centenary Square, beside the Birmingham Rep (to which it connects, and with which it shares some facilities) and Baskerville House. Upon opening on 3 September 2013, it replaced Birmingham Central Library. The library, which is estimated to have cost £188.8 million, is viewed by the Birmingham City Council as a flagship project for the city's redevelopment. It has been described as the largest public library in the United Kingdom, the largest public cultural space in Europe, and the largest regional library in Europe.

This library has a huge mural on the front of it called, "Word of Life". It depicts Jesus with upraised arms much like a football referee would do when an American football team scores a touchdown. Hence the nickname, "Touchdown Jesus". Ironically, this library is near the university's football stadium.

This is a part of my series titled "Helen Platt". The series is about my grandma and her day to day life as a 92 year old woman. I also captured details of her house, momentos and other trinkets, to show her journey through life.

The Libraries have many quiet study spaces for you to work. The Suzzallo reading room is one of the most recognizable quiet study areas on campus.

The former Cabell County Public Library building in Huntington WV was a Carnegie library building. The library moved into a new, larger structure across the street in the mid 1970s. This is a view of the old building (and its midday solstice shadows) as seen from the door of the new one.

The National Library in Georgetown, Guyana, was erected in 1909 using funds supplied by American philanthropist Andrew Carnegie.

My Cozy Library. It's nice to relaxed in a well lite room.

The main reading room of the KU Leuven University Library, which has been rebuilt by the Allies (under the impulsion of H. Hoover) after the Germans torched its 14th century predecessor during WWI. The library was destroyed a second time during WWII, this time due to heavy bombing by the Allies (ironically leaving only the Japanese collection intact). And they say that the third disaster was the splitting of the collections following the divorce between the French and Flemish-speaking communities, eventually leading to the creation of the Université Catholique de Louvain la Neuve... Not a quiet place to be a Librarian...

More about the breakup between the French and Flemish libraries.

We finally got around to assembling one of the a/v shelf units that I ordered from The Library Store. While I'm happy with it as far as ease of assembly, and the finished product, I felt shafted when we opened the box and discovered that every single piece of it is MDF board with a thin veneer of wood on the surfaces that show. The ad did not mention MDF, only the different types of wood. I would not have paid what I did if I'd known that we were getting MDF.
