Meet Maria, the librarian, one of my friends:
"Books and reading have been the centre of my life since my childhood. I was a hardcore bookworm till age 18. A good book for me is more than just a good story, it's safety, recreation, a handhold. Whenever I'm in an end-of-the-world mood, I grab a book. In those times I usually read the lively and vital books of István Fekete or Terry Prachett's Discworld.
I was going to be a biology teacher, but "accidentally" I ended up being a librarian. I worked in the Szabó Ervin Library (the biggest Hungarian library), in the library of a military college, in a university library, and after a detour now I'm the librarian of a vocational secondary school. The detour was my other big love: the world of plants and naturopathy. Both paths interlock and complement each other. When I teach fitotherapy, my students get a list of referenced books. And we often talk about herbs, nature, environment, sustainable development in the school library. For example Dune, the novel by Frank Herbert shows suggestively the importance of water, our life-giving treasure.
Yet, if I would to keep only one book, that would be Távoli tűz (Distant Fire) by Péter Zsoldos. And a further recommendation for today: I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson."

More of Jillian as a librarian fairy, who discovered a book in Special Collections that revealed a whole new world of actual magic and actual fairies to her.
To be fair, I know librarian type people who will totally dress like this. We just forgot our Fairy Handbook. :(
Strobist details: Catching the sun just as it's setting, a Neewer NW-581 to the left triggered by the Phottix Ares into a white bounce umbrella.
One of the librarians I work with outlined all the different jobs she does, so show to her board of trustees. It's a little hard to read but the color blocks are all different sections like collection development, reference, etc.
Our school has a library. It's not only lent books for student, but also has many activity at there. She is a librarian of the library, has knowledge of Japanese sub culture! So, she performed many interesting plans. She is very smart!

This is a piece from an art exhibit I was recently part of in Chicago. I wanted to experiment with stitching alternative surfaces and, as a librarian, I chose one of my other loves - books.
First I traced the pattern on the inside of the book cover. Then I painstakingly drilled holes through the leather bound book cover that I later stitched through. Once the book cover was finished being stitched, I mounted it on top of a piece of wood that I glued and sealed collaged pages of books relating to the heart.

A perfect match! Valentin and Lison in Librarian-themed shirts from Questionable Content and Chris Baldwin!
With life-like shushing action! Modeled from Nancy Pearl a great librarian in Seattle, who is also heard giving reviews and recommendations for books on NPR.
Keep the chatter down over there, please!
No, I have not read every book.
Yes, yes the cover was red but do you remember the author?
No, I cannot waive your 75 cents overdue fine!
Seb sent me some very cute glasses which he found on his travels. No, they don't have any lens in them. Just cute and beautiful. He knew that I would take a photo or two and suggested the sexy librarian. The search was on for poses for glasses, a suitable backdrop and something to wear. KoKoLoReS for poses, Blueberry for the outfit, and 1PrimPossible Library which I just happened to buy when I went to look at it.
Being a librarian, she was a bright young woman and a well read individual. VERY well read. And working in the book trade allowed her access to books on many topics, including those titles which touched upon one of her obscure hobbies. Now she just needed to review the chapter from the latest book in her collection — the chapter on hiding bodies.

Further embellishment in Elgin Park, this was taken from Theresa's photo: www.flickr.com/photos/theresasthompson/4315870285/
Overlayed onto a photo of a scale model made by the fantastic Michael Paul Smith.
