"History behind the picture: The New York Public Library today is internationally recognized as one of the greatest institutions of its kind.
The Library's importance is a function not only of its sheer size and scope, but also of its unique character. It is the only library that features both world-acclaimed research centers and a large network of neighborhood branch libraries, all of which may be used by the public, free of charge. The Library is also distinguished by its long-standing tradition of serving the local community, as well as the international world of learning. Its branch system is one of the largest in the world" www.nypl.org/pr/history.cfm
Notes of Importance: This older woman, sitting by her desk, reading a book, with such a stylish hairdo, just caught my eye. She represents both, the past and the present. Her age represents the library's history. Her hairdo represents how history has continuously changed over time. She represents what we are now and what we were before. And, I thank her for allow me to take this picture.

You ever think: wow those librarians are always tweeting about the same thing! Well, now you can play a game: It's called Librarian Twitter Bingo. Every time you see a librarian's tweet about one of the topics, cross it off. When you get a whole row, yell "BINGO!"
This is modeled after Hipster Bingo.
Love this model - took me a while to decide how to paint him, not being a fan of normal ultramarines blue etc. learnt a lot from painting this and even tried my first source lighting - it's not great so any tips are greatly welcome - but all in all I'm really happy with how he turned out.

We were signing a form letter at work "Librarian X," and decided that s/he must be a superhero. I figured I should design him.

We made a pumpkin at work yesterday to enter in the office pumpkin contest. It's a law librarian complete with a copy of American Jurisprudence. Volume 13 (spooooky!)

I went to the library yesterday and couldn't help noticing the boxes suspended from the ceiling over the circulation desk. I took a couple of snaps with my little camera and then the librarian asked if I wanted her in the photo. I said, "Sure", and here we are.
