50/52 The secret we share
I felt a Funeral, in my Brain,
And Mourners to and fro
Kept treading - treading - till it seemed
That Sense was breaking through -
And when they all were seated,
A Service, like a Drum -
Kept beating - beating - till I thought
My mind was going numb -
And then I heard them lift a Box
And creak across my Soul
With those same Boots of Lead, again,
Then Space - began to toll,
As all the Heavens were a Bell,
And Being, but an Ear,
And I, and Silence, some strange Race,
Wrecked, solitary, here -
And then a Plank in Reason, broke,
And I dropped down, and down -
And hit a World, at every plunge,
And Finished knowing - then -
by Emily Dickinson
I was watching Andrew Solomon's TED Talk about depression a few days ago and was very touched by his story and how he copes with this illness. He quoted this poem by Emily Dickinson and it felt fitting for this week's image.
I thought I laid down for a nap the other day with my head to the north, but when I woke up, my head was to the south. Do you ever have that confused half awake feeling? I was challanged to make a photo today based on the word "weird", and I thought... really?... me make something weird?
A recent self-portrait, taken on a very windy day in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh. I was almost blown off that hill, and thankfully I had a helping hand holding my tripod.
“I've begun to realize that you can listen to silence and learn from it. It has a quality and a dimension all its own.” ― Chaim Potok
Well, these don't fit into the "pride" theme, but i'm trying to catch up!
I shoot these @3 or 4 am when the moonlight shone into our bedroom.
On the right you can see a cactus. i used the reversed lens technique (without reverse ring). maybe i'll do a juxtaposition project.. it was so much fun to use this technique for this theme.

I'm so excited to start this 52 week journey! I'm so hoping I'm able to learn and grow a ton this year. Here's to beginnings
My birthday was on Tuesday and i got the chance to shoot self portrait with an old technique called ambrotype. It was one of the best birthday gift ever! This LGC week theme is called „growth”. I think the ambrotype and my birthday are quite fit in to this theme. :) hope u like it :)
ps.special thanks to Flora, who helped make this happen :)
I'm so excited (and nervous) about giving this 52 week project a go. I've always disliked being the subject of a photo, so what better way to try to improve both my portraiture skills and camera shyness than to tackle this project head on?
This week's theme was "weather". I waited for rain because I wanted to take a portrait of myself in the rain, but for some strange reason the Scottish weather was too good to be true. Sunshine all week. So I went to the beach and took a random portrait. It was quite chilly, maybe you can see that.
No matter how quiet it is around you, if the voices in your head don't stop talking it is always too loud.
“Have you ever seen the dawn? Not a dawn groggy with lack of sleep or hectic with mindless obligations and you about to rush off on an early adventure or business, but full of deep silence and absolute clarity of perception? A dawning which you truly observe, degree by degree. It is the most amazing moment of birth. And more than anything it can spur you to action. Have a burning day.”

13/52 "Pride" – Hard work
#LetsGetCreative2015 #LGC2015
------
I was thinking a long time about the theme "pride" and I really didn't know how to realise it for a long time. Pride is a feeling about achieving something and gives pleasure. But to achieve something you have to do hard work. Sometimes you don't see it, but behind every success is hard work, time, sweat and many many nerves you need. Just as this theme. My head exploded because I was thinking so much and sometimes I didn't have nerves anymore for it. But in the end I created a picture I can be proud of.
14/52 "Flight" – Like a bird
#LetsGetCreative2015 #LGC2015
Immer wenn ich einen Schwarm Vögel seh und sie um meinen Kopf kreisen stell ich mir vor, wie es ist, so fliegen zu können, den Wind in den Haaren zu spüren und dorthin zu gehen, wo einem der Wind verweht ....
-------
Every time i see birds, circle around my head, I imagine how it would be to fly, to feel the wind in my hair and to go wherever the wind blows
