After being retained with electric buses by their operators, both route 199 & 185 join the few Lewisham routes running on electrics with more to follow suit next year (108 & 321).

On 5 July 1984, 33040 passes Lewisham on a train of empty Cartics, bound for Dover. The train is running via Bexleyheath, which only a handful of trains were and are booked to do, owing to the line's gradients.

Here's another result of a raid of my archive. This time an unidentified 33 is seen heading through Lewisham, no doubt with a return engineers train to Hither Green.

 

From the late evening sunny glow I guess I would have taken a detour whilst on my way home from work.

The 261 passed to operation by Metrobus (the company not the vehicle!) shortly after this. This was their big entry onto the London scene.

Stagecoach London (11323 YW68OZM) - Route 75 is seen on it's late night runs towards Croydon leaving Lewisham Shopping Centre. I thought about testing my night photography and it went ok, the slight blur on the fleet number did irritate me at first but I grew to be fond of it, nothing is perfect.

 

Wonderful textures and colours on this old building, but i can't find out anything about its history. I'm sure there's a story there somewhere!

An ungainly looking East Lancs bodied Olympian belonging to Harris, who had taken over earlier that year. They only lasted two years before they had to be rescued by East Thames Buses.
