Something unusual has been happening in the yard as of late. I don’t know if it’s the imminent arrival of spring or just the latest fad. Quite a few different types of birds are engaged in this activity of Water Levitation. The current master at this is the dark-eyed junco who needed to show off his recently acquired expertise after carefully studying the squirrel. I am so envious of this and wish I could do the same thing with beer bottles flying out of the fridge straight to my mouth. Uncapped, of course, by the time they arrive at their intended destination.
So, while I am contemplating my deficiencies in this area of gluttony, I think I shall relax to the sounds of Wicked Game (Uncensored) – Chris Isaak

These juvenile Laughing Gulls (Leucophaeus atricilla) are not so much flying as levitating over an unopened fish catch. North Packery Channel Jetty, North Padre Island, Texas.

Zu wenig Zeit, um mich richtig mit diesem Thema zu befassen. Aber manchmal kommt man auch auf Umwegen und mit kleinen Tricks einigermaßen zum Ziel.
Too little time to really deal with this topic. But sometimes you can get there in a roundabout way and with little tricks.

The Macro Mondays "Water" theme was a lot of unexpected fun, and this was one of my alternates. Perhaps this image has less panache than the other one, but I like the way the levitating sphere is in perfect focus.

I was about to leave after viewing new young eagles at a local eagles nest location, I turned back to hear a lot of squawking going on. I saw the female adult fly from the nest to perch in a dead tree nearby. This eagle was screaming and looking all around while I started photographing it. In my camera view I saw this eagle flapping and something appearing behind it. It was a Red-tailed hawk apparently trying to attack the eagle. This shot is after the eagle swung around and then recovered its position. This went on for two more rounds while I was there. I assume the hawk finally gave up the attack. Quite an interesting wildlife event.
A beautiful dark form... any theories ... Male / female / species ???
