Today Apple named their new OS El Capitan. Couldn't be happier to have these legendary National Park monuments valued and promoted for world to know about them. Almost five years back I didn't even know about Yosemite which is before I arrived to the US. My ignorance. But if you lived in a country right on the other side of the globe of the United States, its was not that big of a surprise. But now Apple putting them on the 'Map' makes it easier for the people everywhere to know and admire these legends.
This is the tunnel view of the valley, with El Capitan on the left and the Half dome peeping right in the middle across the valley. This is a very popular spot in the park but you can never have enough of them! :)

A McDonnell Douglas/Boeing F-15E Strike Eagle from the 335th Fighter Squadron (335 FS) out of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina launches from the South EOR during a Red Flag 16-1 sortie. In 1991, During Operation Desert Storm, this aircraft (89-0487) was credited with downing an Iraqi Mil Mi-24 Hind helicopter in the air using a GBU-10 laser-guided bomb. In 2012, this aircraft became the first F-15 of any type to log over 10,000 hours.

Großer Beliebtheit erfreute sich über viele Jahre der legendäre "Christophorus-Express", ein Tages-Autoreisezug von Düsseldorf nach München Ost und zurück. Beliebt vielleicht auch deshalb, weil die Route durch das schöne Rheintal führte. Dass die damals schon ebenso verehrte und andernorts auf dem Rückzug befindliche Baureihe 103 den AZ 1421 bei Assmannshausen südwärts zog, war den meisten Fahrgästen sicher eher unbewusst.

Nach einer großen Pause im Allgäu aufgrund von Stellwerksproblemen in Oberstdorf tauchten doch noch die IC Leistunge mit den legendären 218ern vor den geplanten Diesel Vectrons auf. So schnell wird man dann die Kult Diesellok doch nicht los.
Hier zusehen ist der IC 2084 in Ruderatshofen auf dem Weg nach Hamburg Altona von Oberstdorf, zusammen mit 218 446 die stolz den Namen "Meike" trägt.

There is a legend related to Háifoss waterfall. It goes like this: "An ogress lived in Háifoss (which used to be called Fossárfoss before it got its name in 1912). She lived on trout, which she caught in the waterfall. Once a teenage boy travelling with other travellers threw a rock into the river. That night the ogress went to the tent, where the travellers were sleeping, and tried to pull the teenage boy by his legs out of the tent. But his mates pulled him in the other direction by the upper part of his body. After a lot of tussle the ogress let the boy go and went away, but the boy was bedridden for a whole month from this maltreatment". (Translated from the Folklore of Jón Árnason).
Haifoss waterfall, situated near the volcano Hekla in the south of Iceland. The river Fossá, a tributary of Þjórsá, drops here from a height of 122 m. This is the second highest waterfall of the island.
