This is the installation process of the ‘Oaklawn’ channel letters at Oaklawn Racing & Gaming. The enormous Oaklawn letters were over 8 feet tall and were internally illuminated channel letters, with bright white LED lighting. For the Malt Shop at Seven Clans Casino in Thief River Falls Minnesota, we created a classic car 1950’s style themed diner design. The diner chairs, booths and couches have a Chevrolet pattern to continue the overall theme. To see more examples of casino design, click here.
The perimeter of the 360 degree bar is lined with specialty multi-faceted, shimmering metal bead curtains which are down-lit with color changing LED lighting to create a visually inspiring oasis. Click here to see more examples of casino design
I-5 Design created a new design for the interior of Seven Clans Casino in Thief River Falls, California. The casino renovation was completed in May 2012. The Malt Shop in the casino was styled after a classis diner of the 40’s and 50’s. Streamlined overhead soffits with warm wood veneer and brushed metal accents, combined with authentic light fixtures and vintage automobile artwork, created a very entertaining dining experience. This is the exterior of one of the America’s Credit Union locations in DuPont Washington. This signage was planned so that it would be easily viewed from the I-5 freeway that is very near. I-5 Design and Manufacture designed and manufactured the signage at their shop in Lacey, WA to make the on site installation as seamless as possible. This is the gaming floor at Casino Pauma. I-5 did a complete casino renovation for them. To conceal the electrical ceiling and create a more intimate gaming environment, we designed wood veneer beams. For the exterior of the Lake of the Torches Casino and Resort, I-5 Design and Manufacture delivered a complete reimagining package which tied into the surrounding nature and the existing casino logo. I-5 Design & Manufacture remodeled the interior buffet at Santa Ana Star Casino. Over the buffet line is a classic southwestern trellis supported by rustic stone veneer pillars with punched copper sconces. The sconces that are attached to the pillars were designed to replicate the historical stacked stonewalls found in the region. Golden hues and rustic materials compose a unique and comfortable space and invite customers to the buffet. To see more examples of casino design, click here.
Slow day, testing some lights put into self-test mode. As usual now, these are DMX controllable. There are six 4-foot strips powered by a single 110VAC circuit, drawing less than 7 amps.

I-5 most recent casino remodel was the interior design of Seven Clans Casino in Thief River Falls Minnesota. We created a north woods, lodge style casino design, with a unique color palette of terra cotta and midnight sky blue. The combination of the architectural river rock stone columns, custom internally illuminated mica chandeliers, two-toned birch tree mural bands with stained wood trim and accent lighting, wood grain wall coverings and a beautiful internally illuminated octagonal ceiling feature set in a medallion of specialty etched metal and directional and area signage worked together to inspire patrons and gamers to unwind and relax, while experiencing a truly unique casino destination for the region. For the Santa Ana Star Casino, I-5 Design created a new interior buffet design. We designed custom half walls with birch branches mounted on top to create an intimate, private area for the diners as well as adding visual interest to the buffet area. Another specialty of I-5 Design is custom carpet design. The carpets above were designed specifically for different casino designs. All of our carpets are manufactured in carpet tiles for easy installation and maintenance.
Many of the casino décor items and signage we manufacture start as a sheet of aluminum. Aluminum materials is light but sturdy and can be routed, welded, formed, painted, textured etc… By manufactured and building facades out of aluminum, we can transform an exterior without actually changing the building structure. Light Painting in Cassiobury Park, Watford in March 2023. It is always great to see many people come to my workshops to paint with light.
Cassiobury Park is very dark at night with low light pollution where you can get a two minute exposure. Especially good with the river and its reflections.

For the Seven Clans Casino Malt Shop design I-5 created a 50’s style themed design. With classic car couches and chevron patterned upholstered booths this renovated area is a haven away from the gaming floor. To see more examples of casino design, click here.
The Malt Shop diner design, was included in the casino renovation at Seven Clans Casino in Thief River Falls Minnesota. We designed the waiting area furniture from vintage cars into custom couches to make an entertaining seating area within the diner. Polished chrome furniture, upholstered in retro fashion, fill the malt shop floor. To see more examples of casino design, click here.
From the newly designed and renovated gaming floor you can see the Triple Seven Bar and the entrance to the Buffet and Cafe areas. The dominant tribal flame sculpture at the center of the gaming floor was inspired by an original piece located at the Creek Tribal headquarters and helps to emphasize the identity tribe within the casino.

First attempt at stained glass. Quote for fixing 2 broken panels was $550. I thought that I could do it myself for less, with no previous experience. I cut myself (glass), burnt myself (soldering iron) and it took 2 months but I did it for $549.97. A TRIUMPHANT VICTORY for grumpy old men everywhere!
