Philly Zoo...One of the triplets. She is the guardian of the swimming hole...neither of her sisters could get in if she was in it...she would chase them out, then settle back in by herself to play with the toys that were floating in the water...chewing big pieces of plastic, ripping it and tossing it onto the grass! The other two were curious, but she would not let them in. My daughter named her "BEE-OTCH"!!!
Mooresville, NC - goo.gl/06FkfJ Detroit Speed certainly left a mark at Daytona this past weekend with Kyle Tucker claiming 1st overall in the 3,000 lb. class and punching his ticket to the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational in Nevada at the end of the year.
Kyle wasn't the only one making waves at the notorious "high banks" of Daytona International Speedway. Ryan Mathews claimed 2nd place in the Autocross Challenge and 3rd place in the BFGoodrich Hot Lap Challenge in the 3,000 lb. class driving the DSE 2012 White Monster Camaro.
It was a very hot and sunny weekend in Daytona, perfect for what the Ultimate Street Car Association had planned. The Detroit Speed Road Rally cruised around the Daytona area with a stop at the beach before heading back to the Speedway for the Holley welcome party with delicious food prepared by master Pro-Touring chef, Albert Melchoir.
The following day was the Lingenfelter Design & Engineering Challenge and the BFGoodrich Hot Lap Challenge. Kyle and the DSE 1970 Camaro Test Car finished 2nd in the Design & Engineering Challenge and captured vital points in the overall competition. There was a bit of twist to the BFGoodrich Hot Lap Challenge at this event. Racing Started at 1:00 PM and ran until 5:00 PM followed by a dinner break. What was special about this Hot Lap Challenge was the fact that everyone jumped back in their vehicles and ran the road course from 6:45 until 9:45 under the lights! This was such an amazing experience to run the high banks of Daytona under the lights at crazy speeds and banking. That memory will be one that nobody will likely forget for the rest of their lifetime.
Sunday was the final two segments of the event, the Autocross Challenge and the Speed Stop Challenge. Kyle perfected his runs and came away with 1st place in the Speed Stop in his DSE 1970 Camaro Test Car. These were key points in race for first with Kyle eventually claiming the top spot in the 3,000 lb. class.
In addition to Kyle winning the 3,000 lb. class and qualifying for the year end Optima Ultimate Street car Invitational, Mike Johnson qualified by winning the under 3000 lb. class in his Corvette while Todd Earsley qualified in the AWD class and Dan Howe qualified by winning the Spirit of the Event Award. We would also like to congratulate Brian Finch who won the Detroit Speed "Fastest American Iron Pre 1980" award and Danny Popp who won the Detroit Speed "Fastest Fifth Gen Camaro" award.
Many thanks to the crew at @DriveUSCA for putting on such a fantastic event at a truly amazing venue. To run on the high banks at Daytona is arguably one of ever racer's dreams. For the crew at Detroit Speed to be able to do it and be successful was icing on the cake. We look forward to going back and competing in the event next year.

It's done! :) Made my own bias tape to finish it. The bias tape is made using the purple batik with a few small spots of the green batik.
Quilt made using the pattern from the Bend the Rules Sewing by Amy Karol book

I finished this in 1995. every single piece is different, and hand-stitched because the curves were too frustrating to do on machine. And then I hand-quilted it so I could say that yes, I have done a hand-stitched, hand-quilted quilt.
The best part is I can tell you where every single piece of fabric came from and what else I made with it.
More than 1,200 runners, walkers and guests enjoyed ideal weather, delicious food and games at the fifth annual Laps with the Chaps 5K Run/Walk and second annual COD Food Truck Rally at the College of DuPage Glen Ellyn campus. Jake Waterman and Jessica Rangel were the top overall male and female finishers with times of 15:42.4 and 19:04.0, respectively. This year was Rangel’s second year taking top honors. Cristy Drwal (36:50.7) was “Middle of the Pack.” A total of 29 teams participated in the event, with “The DuPage Project” named fastest (15:57) and “We thought they said RUM” named “Luck of the Draw.”
1938 National Dobro / Supro Professional Lap Steel W/ OHC With Rare 2-Tier Body Design
This Lap Steel is in great shape for being 80+ years old! The guitar is in Very Good condition showing some wear and the Case is also in Very Good condition.
All electronics, tuners and controls work as new.
"Finally introduced in 1936 was National Dobro’s first wooden Hawaiian Electric Guitar. These Hawaiian laps were built by National Dobro in Chicago. This had a squarish pear shape, rather wide and frumpy, with two sharp points for shoulders and fairly wide cutaways.
This was “…solid wood finish, in hi-lited mahogany,” which is basically a shaded mahogany sunburst. The top was bound. A square neck rose up to a squared-off flat three-and-three head, now with plate tuners with plastic buttons.
The 26-fret fingerboard (23″ scale) had dot inlays plus little numbers written along the treble edge for each fret position! This first wood-body looks to have some sort of elevated pickguard, also made of wood.
The old, improved Stimson pickup was housed under a large, two-part rectangular cast bridge assembly with a slotted cover revealing the pickup poles, and a slightly elevated back section with rear slots for attaching the strings. Two little wings were appended to either side of this rectangular housing, the treble side with a volume knob, the bass side with a screw-on microphone-type plug attachment (this would be favored over 1/4″ plugs on Supro laps for years to come). A square metal Supro logo plate was mounted between the end of the fingerboard and the pickup cover.

This comforter, measuring 42" X 50" is made of the leftovers from the Delectable Mountains quilt, which is why I titled it "Foothills." It is machine-pieced and tied. This small lap robe will be donated to our local senior quilt group. Our finished pieces are either sold and the proceeds go back to the senior center organization or we donate them to various charities.
