Assisi in the morning light

An early Sunday morning at Port Waikato.

This section of the beach is quite flat and is littered with these small stones. When the wave rushes in and then sucks back, the movement of the stones in the wash creates musical tones a bit like a xylophone, it was quite mesmerising...

Wish you all a happy weekend:))

Back in my working days, I used to travel the world. My companions were a series of little Canon point-and-shoot cameras. Every once in a while I find myself on a walk down memory lane. I recently found this early morning shot taken along the Nekar Rivier in Tubingen, Germany. I really like the rich green tones in this image and was surprised I hadn't noticed it until now.

Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon developed about 60 years ago. It has doubled in size in the recent 15 years because of melting of the glaciers. Icebergs breaking off of the glacier sails out into the ocean. In the ocean they 'live' for a few hours. Then they vanish …

This landscape shot from my Nepal trip shows the terraces / rice paddi and the snow topped Himalayas in the background. The mountain is Dhaulagiri. It is the 7th highest in the world at 8167m.

- Beautiful tall grass seemed afloat on it`s own reflection. I use a technique that narrows down my vision to small fragments instead of trying to see everything at once. Without this technique I would not have shot this one. You might try it when out shooting. You might find a world within our world when getting used to it ~;-)

- The sunset can be seen slightly in the reflection. I chose to not capture the sunlight on the top of the trees because I liked the toning in the shadowed area much better...it contained so beautiful contrasts.

- This pond was inhabited by frogs, so I had to watch my step carefully.

The south fork of the Merced River – in the southern part of Yosemite National Park, above Wawona – is a great place in summer for those who like the challenge of making their way upriver from granite boulder to granite boulder, surrounded by lush forests of pine and fir, with refreshing swimming holes around every bend. This is where I learned to hike as a child, and I always keep coming back.

Thanks for stopping by – I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Cabezo de Castildetierra in the Bardenas Reales, Navarra (Spain)

The Bardenas Reales (sometimes Bárdenas Reales; in Basque, Errege Bardeak) is a semi-desert natural region, or badlands, of some 42,000 hectares (100,000 acres) in southeast Navarre (Spain). The soils are made up of clay, chalk and sandstone and have been eroded by water and wind creating surprising shapes, canyons, plateaus, tabular structures and isolated hills, called cabezos. Bardenas lacks urban areas, vegetation is scarce and the many streams that cross the territory have a markedly seasonal flow, staying dry most of the year.
