A labyrinth is a walking meditation with three stages – the journey in; the centre; and the journey out. It is not like a maze with a choice of turns – it has one path. Walking a labyrinth is a chance to pause, slow down, pray, encounter the divine and be re-energised for the next stage in life’s journey.

Sibley Volcanic preserves the remnants of a cluster of volcanoes that once were active during the Pliocene Period 10 mya in what is now the Oakland Hills. Subsequent tectonic activity warped the Moraga Formation so that it tilted on its side, exposing multiple layers.
No one knows who made the labyrinths of Sibley, but the park is known for them. Sometime between my last visit in 2006 a third labyrinth has been created.
