Soldiers of Forward Support Company, 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, conduct a convoy live fire exercise at Udairi Range Complex near Camp Buehring, Kuwait, Jan. 28, 2013.
CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – Soldiers from the 143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) participated in a patching ceremony here Sept. 20. Col. James C. Bagley, chief of staff, 143d ESC, placed the unit insignia on the Soldiers' right sleeve, signifying the award of the hailed “Combat Patch” and the Soldiers commitment to the unit during operations in a designated combat zone.
The combat patch or shoulder sleeve insignia indicates former wartime service, a tradition started by the Army during World War II. Col. Bagley was joined by Sgt. Maj. Ferdinand Collazo Jr., chief signal sergeant major for the 143d ESC’s G-6 section, Capt. Robert J. Luzarraga, company commander of the 143d ESC, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Joseph Phoebus, senior ordnance ground maintenance warrant officer G-4 and 1st Sergeant Randolph L. Ellerbe, the 143d ESC’s first sergeant. Special guest, Command Sgt. Maj. Luther Thomas Jr., the senior enlisted advisor of the U.S. Army Reserve, stopped by to speak with the 143d Soldiers during the ceremony.

Ian was born in Magwa Hospital in Ahmadi in 1955 and lived in Kuwait until 1975. He’s scanned over 300 Kuwait-related photos from his family’s collection, which he’s kindly given me permission to share. This bath of photos I'm sharing were taken over various weekends and holidays in Kuwait, between the late 60s and early 70s.
The photos were taken by Ian, his father Arthur, and his younger brother Tom. All photos belong to Ian, if you copy them, please credit him.
Kuwaiti security forces gather outside the Shiite Al-Imam al-Sadeq mosque after it was targeted by a suicide bombing during Friday prayers on June 26, 2015, in Kuwait City. The Islamic State group-affiliated group in Saudi Arabia, calling itself Najd Province, said militant Abu Suleiman al-Muwahhid carried out the attack, which it claimed was spreading Shiite teachings among Sunni Muslims.
