Der Bildhauer und Medailleur Eberhard Linke wurde 1937 in Lauban, Schlesien, geboren und lebt in Rheinland-Pfalz.
Ein drei Meter hoher Koloss steht oben auf dem Gebäude, das hinter ihm nochmals ansteigt. Er hat die Mauer im Rücken, steht jedoch dicht an der Kante, strebt weiter ohne den Blick zu senken. Hinter ihm eine zweite Gestalt, die zu großen Teilen noch im Mauerwerk steckt. Ein Schatten? Oder doch ein Nachahmer, vielleicht ein Verfolger? Eberhard Linkes Skulptur Mann vom Castrum steckt voller Energie und Anspielungen, aber auch voller Widersprüche. So kraftvoll die Skulptur auch erscheint, fehlen ihr doch die Arme, die dem Kriegerischen im Weg stehen. Und wozu dieser Helm, der nur durch einen senkrechten Schlitz nach vorne geöffnet ist und das Antlitz des Mannes verbirgt? Man sieht sich einem Akteur aus lang vergangenen Zeiten gegenübergestellt und tatsächlich erinnert der Titel an die Zeit als Mainz noch ein römisches Militärlager war. Am Standpunkt des Werkes befanden sich früher Befestigungsanlagen. Den Blick hat der Mann vom Castrum zur Zitadelle gerichtet. Über diese historische Reminiszenz hinaus, scheint die Skulptur die Stärke, die hier vor allem in der Entschlossenheit, der Willenskraft zu liegen scheint in unsere heutige Zeit tragen zu wollen. Als Modell des unnachgiebigen Menschen ist sie gerade in ihrer Verschlossenheit beeindruckend und fordert den Betrachter auf, sich zu ihr in Beziehung zu setzen.

Beim Besuch des Oberammergauer Passionsspiels am 25. September 1871 war König Ludwig II. so beeindruckt, dass er diese Gruppe stiftete. Am 15. Oktober 1875 konnte nach zweijähriger Gestaltungszeit durch Bildhauer Professor Halbig das Denkmal von Erzbischof von Scherr geweiht werden. Es kostete 400.000 Gulden.
Es galt als das weltweit größte gemeißelte Steindenkmal der damaligen Zeit – 12 Meter hoch und 58 Tonnen schwer. Bis dieser Koloss aus Marmor, mühsam von Pferdefuhrwerken über den Ettaler Berg hochgekarrt, seinen Bestimmungsort am Osterbichl erreicht hatte, waren zwei Helfer auf tragische Weise ums Leben gekommen. Seit 1875 thront nun diese monumentale Kreuzigungsgruppe über Oberammergau – als Zeichen enger Verbundenheit von König Ludwig II. zu diesem Ort. Mit dem überdimensionalen Geschenk würdigte der Monarch die Leistungen der »kunstsinnigen und den Sitten der Väter treuen Oberammergauer« beim Passionsspiel.
Voller Stolz und Freude über solche Wertschätzung bewahren die Bürger bis heute das Andenken an ihren König, und erinnern jedes Jahr am Vorabend seines Geburtstages, dem 24. August, mit dem »Ludwigsfeuer« an den Märchenkönig. Erstmals 1888, zwei Jahre nach dem Todes Ludwigs II., entzündeten königstreue Ammergauer auf dem Kofelflecken ein Bergfeuer; 1946 kam die Gipfelkrone hinzu.

KdF-Seebad Prora, Rügen
4,5 km lange Gebäudekette, die von den Nazis zwischen 1936 und 1939 gebaut wurde. Der Koloss wurde nie komplett fertig gestellt. Zwar wurden einige Abschnitte zeitweise genutzt, aber im Großen und Ganzen verfallen die Gebäude seither.

Cremoso na medida certa, cor matte, sem nenhum brilhinho, cheirinho gostoso e não é forte. Amei a cor!

É a linha nova deles. É muito matte MESMO, chegam a ser bem secos. Eu, particularmente, adoro. Grudam na boca, não saem de jeito nenhum. Não possuem nenhum brilho.

Usei uma sombra bronze da paleta de sombras minerais na pálpebra móvel e um marrom mais escuro, 208 da Koloss fazendo o esfumado do côncavo. O batom foi o Segreto da Fina Flor. RÃmel Fabulash da Revlon.

Valsstolen till 10-tumsverket är en imponerande tingest med en vikt av 36 ton. Vid valsning av rören går valsstolen fram och åter med en hastighet av 50 slag i minuten. Det handlar således om stora krafter när denna koloss är i arbete. (1972)

Het aloude grote Plein bij de regeringsgebouwen (dat gewoon Plein heet) wordt bijna een knus binnenplaatsje door al dat hoogbouwgeweld van de verschillende ministeries die oude - nog bruikbare - kolossen afbreken om er nieuwe, nog grotere en hogere bouwwerken, voor in de plaats te zetten. Bezuinigingen en het afslanken van het ambtenarenbestand is hier nog niet aan de orde.
