I recently heard there was a pedestrian tunnel under the Wellington international airport that cuts right through from Kilbirnie to Mirimar. Stranded without money or transport I decided to wall home through this mythical tunnel. Google maps shows it's shadowy presence. The ceiling is low but it's well lit, no broken glass and only the stale smell of urine to detract from it's late twentieth century charm.
