K-9 Deputy Ned Byrd, 48, of Raleigh, was shot near Battle Bridge and Auburn Knightdale roads in Raleigh just after 11 p.m. on Aug. 11, Wake County Sheriff Gerald Baker said.

Our county commissioners just voted to give themselves a 160% raise increase and our governor gives incentives to companies financial incentives like candy at Halloween. Must be nice!

Meanwhile affordable housing is almost non existent and the homeless population in Raleigh NC increases.

Happiness is getting to see your grandchildren in person despite the government telling you not to, because of a pandemic that does not affect young children or those of us in good health as much as it affects those with pre-existing conditions. The government can not tell me when my family can visit me.

Documenting my day as memory starts to diminish. The slow goodbye.

Covid 19, the genesis of total governmental control over all our lives and everything we do and how we do it. The new normal, every single thing we do and step we take controlled by ever changing and conflicting signs and “executive orders”. Total government domination. And no one seems to care, like sheep to slaughter we go. We will soon resemble a country like Venezuela or Cuba. I spent time in Cuba traveling and its not good.

NC Governor recently said, “The refusal to wear a mask is selfish. It infringes on the life and liberty of everyone else in the store.” Horrible mistake by the Governor addressing people with a broad brush of chastisement.

There have been so many mixed messages!

2020 has been the year of the covid 19 pandemic, travel and family gathering restrictions, masks and for many like me that can not see their children and grandchildren due to government restrictions, which officials enact and disobey, a very lonely year as my family is 650 miles away.

The ReOpenNC group brought over 1,000 protesters to downtown Raleigh, NC on Tuesday April 21, 2020, asking Governor Roy Cooper to end or relax corona virus executive orders. Several politicians joined the group, including US Rep. Dan Bishop.
