It seems that normal everday appliances become something else in this household. It is hard to explain to the fuzzy little wanderers. I try but usually to no avail.

Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday

These blades come from an old Moulinex, a beautiful but slightly over-engineered contraption (in my opinion) for slicing, dicing, julienning vegetables etc, which I don't use but it's too lovely to throw out. For Macro Mondays theme "Contraption". HMM!

My newest acquisition, a sandwich toaster.

A black and white photograph of a grater..

No! not that wolf. (This is as close to "wildlife photography" as I am likely to get..:-))) However, it is a beast and since it arrived a few weeks ago, I am loving cooking and baking again, .

Well for the theme of "New" this definitely qualifies!

Lockdown and the lack of photographic opportunities might be starting to get to me, so I spent an evening sitting on the Utility Room floor with my camera on a tripod practically inside the washing machine. Because, well, photography. Lit with a small LED panel, space age or what?!

In Lockdown 1.0 I played with the washing machine one evening, an LED panel and the camera on a tripod catching some unusual abstracts. These are a couple more images from that evening that I didn't publish originally.

I use both these appliances save me a lot of time when I cook. The little one is perfect for small jobs that require mincing or chopping things very small. The big one is good for so much. I even make pie crust in it.

The elements for Iron Photographer 293:

1 - a kitchen appliance

2 - something which does not belong inside that kitchen appliance

3 - shot from a weird angle

The first element a kitchen appliance is evidently one of the most straight forward elements. Anything from a huge refrigerator down to a mini latte frother counts as an appliance in my kitchen.

The second element something which does not belong inside that kitchen appliance is my gift to USUtatans. If you are going to be in the kitchen prepping for Thanksgiving then this is an excellent opportunity to distract your loved ones from the family dramas, the impeachment hearings, and the football.

The third element shot from a weird angle is more for the UKUtatans who have yet another general election on the horizon, so I expect many of them are already lying broken on the floor, or banging their heads against walls. "Define weird" I hear you say... No, you go ahead and define it for yourselves.

It’s possible that the lettering on this piece was applied by hand when it was restored, because it does not match the script in the manual or the other Assistents I’ve seen. Looks great though!

Intimacy, 2010–2016

When someone says “intimacy” or “intimate relationships”, most people would think of sex. Although sexual relationships of any sort may or may not be present, intimacy is based primarily on trust. For many years I photographed young women and did not understand what I was looking for. Neither did they ever articulate that. Were they interested in love or friendship or other relationships? I am not sure any of us understood and none of us asked. Now I believe they were looking for intimacy. They sought for time structured with taking photos and our conversations about everything. They undressed physically and mentally to the degree they trusted me. And so did I. Some of those relationships ended with pain. Some were quick and nice. Some still continue.

ODC-Order

Today I gave the new Microwave a cleaning. Here is me getting the rotating plate back into the oven. You have to put things in the right order for this to work correctly.

"Hvitevarebandet" ("The Kitchen Appliances band") Hurra Torpedo performing at the Bukta Festival in Tromsø, Norway 2010. Uncle Blue has just beaten the stove, kicked it, and is making the final insult to the stove, while the other two in the band keep the groove going on guitar plus freezer and stove (bass drum and snare :-)). It's a weird experience, but they actually manage to make music, too. Notice the father with his little son in the background.

I am not motivated to cook for myself.....rather, I cook for my animals.....and by definition, that puts me in THE OLDER GENERATION.

On the Silestone counter tops I have arrayed three of my favorite small appliances......the Aroma rice cooker, the Cuisinart slow cooker, and above them the awesome Breville toaster oven--my oven of choice for smaller dishes. (I love my Bertazzoni gas range, but seldom use its oven....I could be happy with a gas stovetop, and a separate oven.)

The Silestone is antibacterial, and impermeable to stain or odors.

It does not require any maintenance, unlike granite or marble. I love the soft grayness of its color combined with my earthy yellow ochre walls, always sunny and inviting even of dark days.

Even though I am not much on cooking, the kitchen remains a pivotal center of my homemaking activities. I'm told my placement of the LG washer/dryer combo in the kitchen is a more European choice......the architect who drew the plans wanted a closet for the laundry stuff, but I insisted on it being located on an outside wall for easy venting, avoiding the humidity issues of our very humid Mobile environment.
