It was such a joy to see my first ever adonis blue yesterday, thanks to the kindness of a young photographer who pointed me in the right direction.
I wondered if I'd recognise it from a distance if I couldn't spot the black markings going to the wing edge, but sure enough the richness of the blue really did take my breath away!

Cefalù is an ancient seaside village and an important tourist center in the metropolitan city of Palermo, Sicily.
It is one of the largest seaside resorts in the entire region; despite its size, it attracts a significant influx of local, national, and international tourists every year, which, in the summer, triple the population, crowding the town's main squares and streets.
It is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and is the gateway to the entire Madonie region and a base for trips to the Aeolian Islands.
The city's cathedral, included in the Arab-Norman Palermo and the Cathedrals of Cefalù and Monreale site, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015.
Cefalù is located on the northern coast of Sicily, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, about 70 km from Palermo, at the foot of a rocky promontory.
The characteristic old town sits at the foot of a large rock formation known as the Rocca, which contains the remains of Paleolithic, Byzantine, and medieval settlements. The modern part of the town extends along the coast seamlessly into the medieval part of the historic center.

Cefalù è situata sulla costa settentrionale della Sicilia e si affaccia sul mar Tirreno, a circa 70 km da Palermo, ai piedi di un promontorio roccioso.
Il borgo antico, molto caratteristico, è ai piedi di una grossa formazione rocciosa conosciuta come la rocca su cui vi sono resti di insediamenti paleolitici, bizantini e medievali. La parte moderna della cittadina si sviluppa lungo la costa senza soluzione di continuità con la parte medievale del centro storico.
